No matter what a standard says no working dog was ever meant to be as ungainly in gait as the GSD has become. No dog should need an operation to give birth because someones interpretation of the standard is to have their heads so broad & waist so narrow they can never give birth naturaly as in the English Bulldog. The Neo was never meant to have dawrfism that cripples their movement or wrinlkles that cause terribly painfull skin conditions. Nature tells you something is going far wrong when dogs are no longer able to do the job they where origanaly breed for or reproduce without humine intervention.
How can you call these outcomes improvements on a breed & say this is what the breed standards are calling for. And if you do beleive this is what these breeds standards are calling for you should by no way think about follow them & should loby to change the standard.

Yes, newfie's have suffered too from trying to make the newfie more GIANT. That has only led to many more problems. i would love all my newfies to be the size of my Annabelle, my mini newf. Definitely not Like Tobias who was way to large. Some (not all) Breeders and Judges have a lot to answer for too.

Perhaps you should go back and read my original post so that you understand or remember my stance on the matter.

[QUOTE=silvershadowwolf24;113313]It's my opinion that a lot of people don't really care about the animals they're breeding- not really. They're in it to "improve" the standard. If they're taking the standard as a literal thing (rather then a guideline) is makes sense that they would go to extreme lengths to follow it to a t, and other like-minded people (a lot of them, it seems) are of course going to spend a lot of money to continue the same line of thinking.[/QUOTE

Yes I knew your stance & was not attacking you but the way of thinking these poeple have. Sorry if it came across wrong I agree with you & was just going on from the improvement comment. It is a pet hate & I haer it all the time. Sorry when I say U n my post I mean anyone reading this that thinks otherwise but after rereading it dose sounds like I mean you.
Sorry for the confusion it was from the way I worded it no wonder you thought I meant u personally

Ah okay xD That's okay then! lol

I think for a lot of people it's a matter of, if the dog is able to walk around the show ring and wags its tail when it sees you, then it's "happy" and therefore it's okay for people to keep breeding them this way. Really, how else can these people excuse what they do to these animals? =/

I have no idea how they can stay so blind to it.
I hear over & over how such & suchs dog is not a real such & such breed because it's the wrong height or has the wrong tail set but really what they are seeing is diversisty & without it we should be done with it & just clone our dogs from what the judges beleive to be the best rep of the breed at the time.
I love seeing how you can influance the apperance of an animal through idividual matings & we do it all the time with our sheep & cattle to get what suits us & our enviroment all the time but to change apperance for apperances sack without keeping inmind the dogs origanal purpose & wether the change has any chance of causing health complaints just seems crazy dosn't it?
