    Default Feeding Advice Please

    Hey everyone.

I was wondering if I could some feeding advice.

I currently own a 5month old Kelpie x ACD who weighs 6.6kg. I feed her 3 times a day, morning, afternoon and at night and I feed her a cup or a cup and a half...

Is this feeding schedule alright or what should I change?. I don't want to make her fat as I want her to be healthy.

    Thanks

She should be eating only twice a day now. And only about 1 cup, maybe a smidge more.
Lady gets 1 and a half cups a day and she's 15kg. 2 cups if she's done more exercise than normal(like today she came on a three hour horse ride).
You should feed to meet the dogs energy needs, not exactly by weight.
If your dog does more exercise than most, then you feed a little more than the suggested amount. If she does less, then she gets fed less.
So as I said, at 6 kg, she should be eating about a cup(500g each meal). If she does 2 hours of exercise then some more. If she does no exercise maybe a little less. If she does an average half-hour walk, then feed her normal amount.

    If that makes sense.
Some people might dissagree thinking its not enough food, but it is

And I assume she's on a puppy food?

yes, what you have said makes perfect sense!

Woops, I thought they were meant to be fed 3 times a day till they were about 8 months, lol. Ok, 2 times a day now, thanks.

Yes, she is on puppy food. Do you know what age there meant to go onto adult food?.

    Also, thanks for replying.

    No problem
She should have only just started having two meals (5-12 months), so don't freak out.
She's classified as an adult at 12 months, and thats when you can start feeding once a day.

I did a quick Google search in case I wasn't making sense. This website seems to be saying the same thing as me

Also depends on what brand of food you feed.
I usually feed mine twice a day. I split their daily intake into 2 meals.
