My dogs names are Barney and Pippi

Barney got his name because it suits him perfectly. He is a big black boofhead and we wanted a boofy kinda name. He also is quite "bear" like and Barney seems to be a bit beary. Everyone who sees him and hears his name always says "good choice on the name" or "the name suits him to a t" or even "perfect, you couldnt have called him anything else".

Pippi got her name because we wanted something a bit NZish. We got her here in Oz but are from NZ (well I am). So my partner (a Brit) suggested Pipi (shellfish, I think they have them here too though so its not as kiwi as we thought it was lol) but I felt that spelling was a bit masculine so put the extra p in. Also, shes small, scruffy and naughty so we thought Pippi went quite well with that. I sometimes call her Pippi Short Legs (reference to Pippi long stockings)

Roxie is Roxie because she looks like a fox but my parents refused to name her Foxie. I initially wanted Trixie (after Trixie Belden - a character in a series of books from the 50s. She was adventurous) but my parents completely refused.

Roxie means 'dawn' which is funny because she is definitely a morning dog!!

I love names ending in the 'e' sound and old names. Tilly is short for Matilda a good Australian name. Tilly's assicoate name is Tillyboo.

Rory was a rescue and came with his name and was named after Rory the Racing car.....

My dogs both have horrendous names!

Lady was named after a dog my mum had that looked like her.

I named Roly when I was 10. My favourite show at the time was 101 Dalmatians and he was black and white. It was later we found out that um, being a boy, and uhhh, as boys do, he liked to...play....with his, um, bits. And would Roll into a ball to do so. So I guess his name suits him.

The only animals I've named since having a more sensible brain were my horses.
My first horse I named Marlie just cause I thought it was a pretty name.
My current Thoroughbred is called Wiley as in Wild. E. Coyote. He's a bit sly, takes risk and yeah, a little bit crazy I wanted to change his registered name to Wild E Coyote but its too complicated. I guess we'll just have to stick with Denzel Star(his name before Wiley was Dennis..yuck!)

Names are a very personal choice. i like to choose names for easy re-call in obedience. And we have also got a name from our breeder.
Tessa, because it is quick and short
Annabelle, because she is "Planhaven Lady Annabella"
Katy, because I got to choose the name and I love Kate/Katy and Katy Bear. And I love the book "what Katy Did" so her full name is "Planhaven What Katy Did".
Tobias, Toby......We re-named him at nine years old, three month ago, because he ran away from his name Balcon ( lord knows what they did to him). Toby is again a good call name and he comes to it all the time now, it means someone loves you

Our Q-horses have registered names, but we have given them call names
"little Bob" and we call him Robert ..... Go figure
"Bobby's Jackhammer" and we call him Jack, it makes sense
"I am a Cool Bid" and we call him Brady, just because
"Winderadeen Pogosa Doc" and we call him Doc and it again makes sense
"Foxwood South Wind", named by us, because he was born in a storm and we call him Indy
And our Clydy, Johnno, we chose that name

I sadly have only got to name on of my dogs...

Sunny (I did not name him, my brother did since Sunny was originally his dog but now mine) I am not sure why he was named Sunny but it suits him well because of how happy he is all the time.

Serenity - I was not going to call her this but her name just popped into my head when I saw a pic of her so the name had to stay because I am a firm believer in naming a dog if a name just comes to you. It's a bit long but she responds well to it.
