Thread: Border Collie, or The Australian Kelpie

Default Border Collie, or The Australian Kelpie

I just want an idea what the majority of people like better, hopefully everyone is patriotic haha.

    My choice is the kelpie
Ask a Border Collie to jump and it'd say, "how high?", ask a Kelpie and he'll ask, "why?"

I have had two border collies and they are great dogs, and you are right, they do whatever they are told and love pleasing their owners. My only experience with Kelpies is foster puppies. Very smart little pups but no more so than any other intelligent dog. So I would have to say Border Collie

Well I assumed Lady was purebred Kelpie until about a year ago and it was decided by a long time Kelpie and BC breeder that she was most definately Kelpie X BC. Possibly even more on the BC side of things.
My grandpa has always owned Kelpies with his sheep, so im gonna have to go with Kelpies.
The Kelpie is less maintenance, could run forever, intelligent(dare I say more intelligent than the BC ) loyal and a true Australian mascot.
If you haven't heard the story of 'The Dog On The Tuckerbox', long story short, a man and his Kelpie are out in the bush, the man leaves and tells his dog to stay and keep watch of the tuckerbox. The man never returns, and the Kelpie never leaves the food. Im fairly sure the dog died next to the box from starvation and thirst. True story!

Thats why I vote Kelpies. Love them
