[QUOTE=Occy;4895]For people who think otherwise. This was my first post.

How is ANYTHING said there rude?

If people want to sign up to this forum for the express purpose of abusing others they need to rethink how mature they really. Last week it was Choppa, this week me.

I did not sign up to abuse people !!! Where on earth did you get that from?
If writing in caps.....saying sorry and giving a reason is.... abuse.....then ....??? ok
I have had fun in my time here, been greatful for peoples advice and tried to offer advice in return... I have not abused anyone !

Maybe that's your reason for joining....it's not mine!

Welcome to all the new members who joined to talk about dogs.

Can anyone explain why Staffy would be seen as bad? I just assumed it was a shortening like "sheppie" or "rottie"?
This I am going to whole heartedly agree with.
I have said it since the very beginning through many forums but still it escapes the minds of a few.

We are all here for the DOGS.Why or how is that concept so damn hard to grasp?
No-one is here to be abused, spoken down to,made feel like an idiot, made feel like they must conform to all elses way of thinking/beliefs like another well known Forum most of us know.

So some of us ffed Pal,some feed BARF,hell some might feed fresh culled roo.
Does it matter as long as it works for the dogs it's being fed to?!

Education cannot happen if people are scared of speaking in case they get flamed or made to feel inferior.

    Remember this ;
Those we shun today , are tomorows new Back Yard Breeders and Puppy Farmers .

    Now.....
I am one of those that dislike having Stafford shortened to Staffy moreso when it has English in front of it ( like there is one huh - okey dokey )

For me , it smells to me of BYB , Puppy Farmer , lets breed my tough looking English Staffy to your big bad American Staffy .

When it comes from someone I know , who I know knows ( yes,Dr Suess was my babysitter ) that there is no English Staffy then I generaly dont say a word. But then they will usually say Staff. Or Staff-Bull or AmBull or Amstaff depending on which breed we are talking of.
But if I see someone who I think maybe new to the breed/s ( I hve been known to be wrong on occasions - I think ) then I will try to gently educate them that there is no such thing as an English Staffy or Staffy for that matter .

Sorry , it is one of my pet hates born of the many, many BYB and fools who abuse the reputation of these dogs

Hope that helps people understand why I at least dislike the term.

And it still does not mean I will shoot you

I personally haven't come across anyone who has a problem with the Staffordshire Bull Terrier being called a staffy but the American Staffordshire Terrier is a different story. Some people get very narky about that!

An Amstaff isn't a staffy though. Staffy's a small sturdy little dogs with big grins. I dunno, Staffy just sounds friendlier to me. Bring it Chops!

    HI Choppa !

Thank you for the explanation on the whole 'staffy' thing I thought it was an interesting question to bring up...but to be honest i've lost interest now that all the other ' non-sense' has been posted to me...
And Choppa...are you saying i've been abusive etc. ???
I joined this forum for fun, simply because i love dogs and wanted to chat to people that love dogs too. I was impressed at how many people offered advice when i asked for it....Thought it was a lovely place !
I must say, i have not had much fun here the last few days...

Magdalena - the post you quoted of mine was not directed at you, it was directed at someone who joined with the express purpose of abusing me and their post was removed.
