I would also doubt Nova. The only time I ever see them is owned by people who compete in dog sports and they are not easy to come by. The ones I know are quite finely built. I would say goldie mainly. I dont see the kelpie either.

Too tall to be a Nova, but I can see where you were coming from

I reckon its safe to say Golden Retriever. He's so gorgeous though.
Im usually not a fan of GR's, but Ralph is devine.

looks fairly golden, but I can see a hint of cattle dog I think
Ask a Border Collie to jump and it'd say, "how high?", ask a Kelpie and he'll ask, "why?"

One of my dogs is a golden cross border collie ( I have met the parents) So I can see that maybe this lovely dog is a golden cross red kelpie (?????) or other type work dog

Here is a pic of our Tessa. just check the ear set and muzzle, very similar. Even her feet are a similar shape.

Definitely not Toller, even though the colour is similar.

Have you considered he might be mostly Golden Retriever? Is he Golden sized? Many Goldies are dark coloured, it's not an unusual colour for a Golden. Working lines tend to be darker than show lines as well.

Well he is identical to a dog I know that came out of a pure breed Golden Retreiver bitch & was sired by a border collie that I thought may have a dash of kelpie in him
