    Default Dog Seat Belts

    Hi everyone,

Robbie and I pick up our new puppy at the end of the month.

She's going to be travelling to work with Robbie most days - the plan is to have her in the back of the ute when she's old enough, but we've read and been told that its not a good idea to put a puppy in the tray straight away, so she will be in the cab for the first little while.

Its a work car so we dont want her jumping around the place (especially as she grows) and I'm big on safety (you wouldn't let a child jump all through a car so why let a dog?).

There seems to be a lot of different dog seat belts available - ones that simply clip the collar to full on body harnesses.

Has anyone on here had much experience with dog seat belts, and can recommend to me which style is best?

I think it depends on the dog. What breed is the pup?

I would say put her in a harness then just buy the $8 seatbelt clip from the reject shop and clip it on. I only say harness because if the car stops suddenly etc then it will pull and the force will be shared around the body, not jerking on the neck. If you buy one with the harness incorporated then you don't have the option to switch it later if it's not working out.

Let us know what you decide and how it works out

Jet is a Dobermann - we haven't bought her home yet so we dont know what she's like herself, but I imagine puppies in general are pretty energetic and curious and probably not likely to sit still in the car! lol

The harness and clip is a good idea, rather than a car specific harness.

I agree that clipping to just the collar doesn't sound very nice - means she cant look out the window either!

Will let you know how I go

We use a harness and seatbelt clip, works well.
