    Default Urgent:Help Me!

I think my minis is sick.

He just refused food. He only had some kibble with tinned tuna in this morning.
He looks ok but no energy.
He smells bush/dirt-I am worried about possible insect bite.
I quickly checked the backyard..nothing unusual found.

What can possibly wrong with the boy? What should i be watching?I am off to make a call to the vet to prepare for the worst.
I love cooking but I love eating even more.

I agree, ring the vet. Good luck.

If it's an insect bite I would just keep a close eye on him.

I have had 2 bitten by insects (possibly ants) the past few months and just waited it out. As long as there are no other symptoms than feeling a little 'poorly' there's not much a vet can do.
Just keep a very close eye and make sure the symptoms do not get worse... they can stay the same (feely lethargic) but not any worse (escalating to vomiting, extreme lethargy etc)

With Cyrus his was bitten on the nose by an ant and his face swelled up about 3 times its usualy size. I kept a very close eye on him and watched for any breathing problems or vomiting and the swelling came down within a few hours and the next day he was back to normal.

Prada was bitten (we assume) by something inside her ear. He screamed bloody murder when you touched it and was frightened but again... we waited it out for a few hours and her symptoms didn't change. The next morning she was back to her old self as well.

Relax, for a start. Everything is going to be fine.

Is he drinking water? He did eat today so he is not going to die of starvation. He might just have a tummy ache.

Watch to see if he is scratching any area in particular. Lightly run your hands over his body to see if there are any sensitive areas, and look for bite marks as well. Keep an eye on his breathing too.

I hope he gets well soon. Let us know what happens.

I can't help, but wanted to say I hope everything is ok. I had to rush my Border Collie to the vet a few weeks ago because she couldn't breath properly and had a red rash around her mouth. I know how scary it is and hope it's nothing serious.

Hauser is at the ARH and waiting to have further tests. A vet suspects intestine blockage. I am quite shaken by this. Thanks for your concern...means a lot to me right now.

Thankfully I've never had to deal with that, please let us know how Hauser goes, and hugs to you.

If he has an intestinal blockage - his gut was sore ie when vet examined it, dog flinched or there were hard lumps?

Doesn't take much. The evidence in the back yard could have been eaten. And then there are a few horrible problems where the gut twists or folds on itself for no apparent reason and that can be really serious.

I saw a glad wrapped sandwich - bane of my dog's life, on the way home. And she spend some time cleaning up after the school kids. The actual school grounds looked great but they don't clean up their playground area or surrounding sport oval and the way to and from school.

    Hi,

We brought Hauser back from the hospital. yes the vet saw a lump from x-ray and managed to pass through. I am so happy that he is ok now and we managed to detect early on. He had his dinner and licking his tummy.....the most beautiful thing I have ever known...lol
    Thanks everyone

Good news. I have heard too many stories like this. I always go to the vet when in doubt.
