    Thanks Molly.

I decide to share the symptoms Hauser had yesterday, so people who do not have experiences in dog's intestinal blockage are informed.
-refuse of food-Hauser was 100% off food
-drink water-this is something to be careful
    -lethargic
-try to poop but have difficulty to do so
-a dog may move around to find comfortable position-Hauser was digging bush in the backyard to find a comfortable spot-this is why he was smelt bush. I think he wanted to stay outside as he felt his need to go to toilet constantly
-a dog may have usual behaviours such as barking/greeting but you can see it is struggling
-vomit-when i had the second inspection at the backyard I noticed his vomit of breakfast-this means it was something had to do dinner previous night which Hauser's case was a bone. I also noticed I could not trace any remains of bone which was unusual
-Head to tail examination-he did not appear to be uncomfortable-I walked him for 10 minutes-he walked fine

The vet detected some lumps when she examined him and x-ray confirmed those as well. The vet tried enema and worked. TG! If untreated, the gut might have been ruptured or inflamed which can lead to a serious result.

Hauser is off bone for a while and is on metamucil (sure enough, he loves it!)
Hauser is still not 100% himself but so much better than he was. I hope some information provided can help some members: i do hope nobody needs this info.

Just to add one more thing: Initially the vet considered pancreatitis (schnauzers are more susceptible towards this than some other breeds) as a possibility but quickly declined that option as Hauser was in good weight and no temperature. One of the things the vet mentioned was that we were doing well with Hauser keeping him good weight. I just need to learn to feed myself like I feed my dogs.

Oh dear. I have cold shivers when i think about going through this same scenario with Geoff 2 weeks ago.

I will send good vibes. Have faith, vets can do amazing things.

Glad to hear Hauser is doing ok. After Flirtt's adventure with the plastic meat thingy, I think I can reasonably say I empathize. Thanks for the extra info :-)

What sort of bone did he have?

I am a big believer in bones and it has taken me some time and experimenting with different types to find what suits mine.

I'm so glad Hauser is ok and home where he belongs.

Very frightening but you picked up on the symptoms early. Good on you.

It was a marrow bone, which he had million times before. It was the first time I could not find the trace of bone. I thought they buried somewhere, which also happened thousand times before. I am a great believer in bones as well. The vet from the hospital put it quietly that a dental specialist in the hospital did not approve bones as it can hurt dogs so many different ways. My vet said I would need to watch Hauser as there might be underlining health issue why he could not properly process and/or other things. She advised me to take Hauser to her if he does not get better within a few days.

Hehe I actually surprised people at the hospital that I brought my pet record folder with detailed info on vax/flea treatment etc. I have found the system is quite handy esp in emergency.
