    Default "Pet" Hates

    We all have things we hate people doing around us and our pets. Here's a chance to get em off your chest amongst understanding people;

    I have two:

    1. When people approach my dogs and I with their dog to "just come on up and sai "hi"" without asking, and then getting offended when I back away

    and

    2. When I used to walk my Irish Wolfhound and people said "That's not a dog, it's a horse!". (Funny the first time, after the 5,000th not so funny)...

This will be a good thread.

    Retractable Leads.
Correction Collars put on the wrong way.

When trying to correct my dog for reacting towards another dog and they still want the dogs to meet.

We have a GAP greyhound so the one comment I hate is "that's an ugly dog".
    Which isn't too often.
The one that amuses me "Is that an ex greyhound?"

    Pet hates

    * people who put "advice please" or "help please" and nothing else in the subject line.
    * people who don't read or search the forum to see if anyone else has ever had their particular problem before.

    * people who give my dog treats without asking me first.
    * people who give my dog treats when she is jumping all over them - and then complain about how pushy she is. And I say "you trained her to do that".
    * I am a bit of a hypocrite there - if somebody's dog rushes up to me - I tend to give it a treat - as long as its bum is firmly planted on the ground and it can remove its nose from my hand for a second. But probably shouldn't let your dog rush up to strangers in the first place (hmm advice for self).

    * people who let their children rush up to my dog.
    * people who let their children tease dogs in the off lead dog park
    * kids with remote control cars, planes or with out of control kites

    * people who don't pick up after their dogs. Which reminds me there is a delivery I need to make - if you have a really distinctive looking dog that everybody knows where it/you lives - you better pick up after it.

    * correction collars

    * people who think my front-attach no pull harness is on upside down and should be attached behind the shoulders. I guess it's an opportunity to educate a person but I do know how to put my dog's harness on correctly. And it sure doesn't work if someone puts it on upside down.

    * people who let their dogs pull on walks so much that the dog is choking.

    * people who say my dog just want to play, when it is trying to kill another dog.

    * people who let their dogs hump everything

    * people who let their boy dogs pee on other people's belongings and do nothing or yell at you if you try to correct their dog or defend your stuff.

Oh dear, that list is a bit long. Ah well.

People who let their dogs wander around their front yards.

Tonight we were walking the dogs when a dog came out from under the bushes, hackles up trying to sniff our grey. Got too close , started to bark then tried to have a bit of a nip when our grey had enough and wanted to have a go back.
I spot the owner and asked him to call his dog back. Dog had no recall, yelled at him to control his dog. Because greys tear so easily he would have been the one worse off.

When people say, what is wrong with your dog? oh people you must be blind!!
When people constantly over protective with their dogs because they do not like physical contact with other dogs at off leash dog parks-why don't you work on recall at least!!!!
When people blame the council not replacing poo bags often enough-grrrrr
When people bring their bitches in heat to the dog parks-grrrrr
People try on second (multiple) hand information such as TV dog trainer, on somebody else's dog and give lengthy lectures
I love cooking but I love eating even more.

Oh Oh - that's me. I often look like Victoria Stillwell with a tribe of dogs around me all sitting nicely hoping for a treat.

About three quarters of the time, my own dog is up to no good way way over there...

-In the vet when people lie about their dogs breed. Pit Bull/Amstaff owners do it the most.
-People thinking their overweight dog shows how spoilt they are.
-People who can't spell their breed correctly.

    • People who come to the Vet with a Cat thats not in a Crate and than wonder why all the dogs are trying to get to it.

    • People who call Rottweilers "ROTTWEELERS"

    • People who cross the road to get to the other side when I'm walking Pacino like he's a monster and he's gonna eat them (even though he walks on a lose leash)

    • When people bring a dog to the dog park that hasn't been walked for 6 months before than
