people who leave their dogs poo behind...but I love it when my other half sees them, winds down the window and yells at them "go back and clean up your f**king s**t!"

That's cool, I was just checking. I noticed you offered up some advice of your own in another thread so I figured what I read wasn't exactly what you meant.

    Maybe

I hate people who have no idea what they're talking about, giving advice like they're an experienced professional in the field

    - though I have been guilty of writing stuff that comes across like that, myself. Oops. I try to credit the experienced professionals I'm quoting/paraphrasing when I do give that kind of advice or add "I've not tried that method myself". Don't always remember though.

All stuff on the internet needs to be given the common sense check ok before considering trying it at home. One of my fav signatures was / is
"it's on the internet, it must be true" because so many people quote and act as if they believe that.

When people spent thousands of dollars buying a designer oodle and then complain about the price of vaccinations/health care at the vet. " i just paid $1000 dollars for this dog at the pet shop and now you want to charge me for its healthcare"

When people get a second puppy (or partner) thinking that will solve the problems they had with the first one.

No it won't, the first one will teach the second one to do all the things you hate the first one doing. So don't get a second puppy until the first one is behaving nicely or you just end up with double trouble and then some.

Often female dogs are attached to dads because they are likely to be the tallest/biggest member of the family and have the deepest voice.

Havnt read all the thread yet but just knew I'd get sidetracked if I didn't reply straight away

But Myf,if we didn't bend the truth a little at first we could be in deep water. Where is the harm in this if you are only seeking the general reactions of the vet in question? We have had to often do it,you might/might not be surprised by the amount of vets out their that will differ their treatment once they know it is APBT on their table. As for the Amstaff one, well unless papered the same worry would apply,if papered then I dont get that one either.

Not sure I have to many pet hates to be truthful.
Most are uneducated and some just do the things that suit them.As do all of us.Hya as pointed out will often be generously helping out others but her own dog is elsewhere, sometimes people may even be quite resentful of that ( meant in the most respectful way Hya)

The only times it peeves me is if whatever the reaction is is endangering public or other dogs.
Oh.....and when people hate/are scared of our dogs without a notion of the actual dogs in front of them.
Well in a lot of cases at the other side of the road as the public in question have now crossed the road

And i also have a pet hate similar to people spelling there dog's breed wrong but my pet hate is pronouncing there dog's breed wrong e.g. the breed Shih Tzu being pronounce as Shiz-it-sue OMG everytime I hear that I want to CRY!!

And also people who think that their Maltese x Shih Tzu is NOT a cross!! and that it is a pure Maltese shih tzu... That is a CROSS BREED not a purebreed. It is either a Pure Maltese OR a Pure Shih Tzu!!! Grrrr
    Oh dear...

Yes we realise who we are dealing with although by goodness you'd be surprised at how many in your profession are very judgemental when it comes to ...some....breeds.

However, tell them that your red coated, red nosed, amber eyed darling is in fact a weim cross or similar and you're suddenly their very best customer.
Many still like to close their eyes to 'breeds'.

This type of conversation happens on a weekly basis...
Me as I bend down and pat the puppy: Awww she's gorgeous, is she a Pit Bull?
The owner: Aw no she's not, she wouldn't hurt a fly.
    Me: So what is she?
The owner: Don't know, we rescued her.

I've noticed if I believe they are a PB, the owner never actually give me what they think the breed is, as in they know I'll point out they're wrong.

I get what you're saying Myf.
But there are those who you seem to just ...well 'know' , ya know lol
For example of course you know what it is but for safety sake you say after asking "Breed - Amstaff ?" or "breed-Staff cross" which then gives the owner the heads up that you are savvy to the issue

I always say bull breed and gauge reactions. Its not hard to tell if you've gelled with that nurse/vet , if in doubt we see another vet.
I'm lucky thus far to have only come across 2 surgeries that have been quite unfriendly towards the 'bulls' but currently have what I think is one of the best vet teams out there.

All I was saying is that sometimes its not that easy to come in and be blatantly honest when asked what breed to put on file
