People who ask what type of dog Geoff the Airedale is, and then say he looks like he has some poodle in him

People who don't pick up after their dog on a pathway and then make eye contact with you as they saunter off.

    I'm only new to this.

When people let their dogs rush up to mine even as I'm saying that mine is not dog friendly. Then they get offended when mine starts growling and snapping.

People giving dodgy medical and behavioural advice on dog forums when they clearly are not a vet or vet nurse.

    People not picking up poo!!

I 100% agree with with the lying about their dogs breed part... I am also a vet nurse and I see it all the time... people clearly lying about their dogs breed when adding new pets to their files. Come on... where do they think they are when they are attempting to lie about breeds???

And i also have a pet hate similar to people spelling there dog's breed wrong but my pet hate is pronouncing there dog's breed wrong e.g. the breed Shih Tzu being pronounce as Shiz-it-sue OMG everytime I hear that I want to CRY!!

And also people who think that their Maltese x Shih Tzu is NOT a cross!! and that it is a pure Maltese shih tzu... That is a CROSS BREED not a purebreed. It is either a Pure Maltese OR a Pure Shih Tzu!!! Grrrr

Hmm, does that mean it's ok to give dodgy advice (doggy advice), if they are a vet/vet nurse?

Or if they are not clearly a vet or vet nurse - then their advice is dodgy (I'm sure Steve K9Pro would be thrilled to read that).

Or just generally if the advice doesn't work for you then it's dodgy?

Whatever - if you only want help from vets or vet nurses - you're not going to enjoy it in here much. We have some but not many of those.

You have to evaluate the advice on its own merits. If it is something you think would do no harm to your dog, or would help your dog, maybe try it. If not - skip to the next idea. Some ideas work on some dogs and not others. Some ideas are just outright bad for your dog - but there are usually three or four of us to point that out.

And just because something isn't what I'd do, doesn't mean it isn't suitable for someone else.

The one that amuses me "Is that an ex greyhound?"
I could not stop laughing about it while I was around the lake with dogs this arvo.

People who cross the road to get to the other side when I'm walking Pacino like he's a monster and he's gonna eat them (even though he walks on a lose leash)
It could have been me as you know I have a DA dog. I was trying not to scare your dog. you know my Chookie Not yet Cookie?
I love cooking but I love eating even more.

I agree with Sammy that people believe their cross breed is a pure breed.

I have learnt more over the last 8 years on dog forums than I have with my vet's over 20 years.

Brydes I wouldn't just 'trust' people who are vets/vet nurses.
There are quite a few people on the forum who arn't vets or vet nurses and they give really good advice on dog health.
Sometimes I may know the 'theory' part but have never experienced the 'practical' part, which other member have.

People insisting that my poodles cannot be the same breed, they must be "oodles" because they are different sizes.

People taking aggressive dogs to the dog park off-leash then using the excuse of "well I was the only one here until you showed up"

People who go to the dog park on a muddy day then get upset because a dog runs past them and kicks mud on them.... it's a dog park... it has just been raining... what did you expect?

Well I think I could have worded what I wrote better.

Hyacinth- I'm not saying that anyone who isn't a vet or vet nurse has crap advice. I'm simply saying that there are a few new dog owners on here. Ones who have never had a dog before and that some people should check their facts before handing out medical or behavioural information. Especially when it comes to aggressive dogs. For someone who doesn't know better, this information could be taken as gospel and do more damage than good. Isn't the goal of a dog forum to hand out the best possible information for the good of the dogs? How can giving medical advice which is clearly wrong be in the best interest of the animals?

I'm also not saying that anyone who says anything that doesn't work for me, is full of crap. I understand that different things work for different people. I have been involved in training, behaviour and veterinary fields for the past 10 or so years. I have seen enough to understand the way things work. I'm also not claiming to be a god in this area.

    1) People who think certain breeds are dangerous
    2) Having to google my dog's health issues so I can tell my vet what might be wrong with them
    3) People who let their pup/dog run up to an on leash dog, whether at a dog park or not
    4) People who stand by and watch their dog attack another dog, and they do NOTHING
    5) People who let their dog do whatever and think it's cute
