Thread: Fencing Issues...

    Question Fencing Issues...

    Hi All,

Anyone here got tips on keeping fences secure? We are currently on about 1/2 an acre and our fences are good (wire stock fences with heavy agricultural chicken wire over the top).

All but one of our dogs is quite happy with them...

She works her way through the wire a bit at a time, gradually undoing the chicken wire until she makes a hole she can squeeze out of. Then runs around the horse paddock encouraging the others to come join her.

Anyone with escape artists have any info for me? She ends up staying in a pen (if not on the couch!) which has to have a roof on it or she climbs out anyway!!

Who has experience with wire mesh? I will eventually go around and replace it all. But want to make sure it is not going to be able to be undone... too much work and expense to keep at it forever!

I'm thinking the heavier versions of welded wire mesh rather than the twisted variety...? But obviously with fairly small spaces.

    Thumbs up

Thanks Occy. Have nearly got that all done, but she moves up to the next available part, and rests on the log while she starts on the untwisting. I think she just has got chicken wire down pat... Little stinker that she is!
I wonder what sort of small gauge you can get ringlock or hingejoint in (sheepnetting)??

    So do I. She's a little smarta**e!
I wouldn't mind so much if she didn't encourage the others by pretending the horse paddock is the absolutely BEST place in the world to be - much better that the boring old yard!!

Saluki - able to eat fences in a single mouthfull! And squeeze through stupidly small spaces!!

If you look in my gallery, she's the red one with the big dark eyes - looking like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth.
