I feel the same TB. At my kennel the pups who were in the same pen (my choice) only got time out in the bigger area together. That was another reason that I felt they were safe. They had toys in their pen and ones that any of the dogs could play with when in the larger area. They only had contact with their cell mates through the wire.

I leave tomorrow for 2 weeks. I will miss mine terribly but they have a pen about 90x45 meters here with trees, shed. Heaps of room rather than the little boarding area.

I would hire a pet sitter that knows what they are doing, or kennel the dogs

ETA: I would also NEVER take my dogs into a kennel where they run with other dogs, too much risk of something happening, I hated group play time where I worked and dogs did get hurt from time to time and there was nothing you could do about it.
    hi Terrorbull,

I am inspecting a kennel for our 6month old this saturday so have long list of questions for them. just in relation to your comment about running with other dogs; how would they exercise them separately? wouldn;t that take a lot more time? should we be looking for a place that keeps all the dogs apart? as many places I have spoken to talk about the benefits of socialising them with other dogs there. i'm pretty new to all this so just want to understand what is the best situation for my pup.

    (sorry to hijack thread btw!)

The kennel i worked at had 4 grass runs and 30 kennels, in the morning we would start at number one, let the first 4 dogs out, clean kennels and dry, put dogs back, took about an hour to clean up. All dogs got to go to the loo and have outside time

after that, we had a rotation system, we would once again start at pen number 1, and let the first lot of dogs out, give them 30 mins, and put them away, and go around, the kennels were not often full,so most dogs got a lot of play time. the last hour of the day we would let everyone out again for 5 mins to go to the loo, before locking up

Saying all that, i also dont like the idea of so many dogs using the same run. My ideal kennels is one that has a small grass run off it so my dogs have toilet room and some sun, and no access to areas other dogs have been. If a dog comes in sick, it does not take long for all the other dogs to pick it up if they share grass runs.

The kennel mine were in had a small grassed area to toilet in leading from the concrete sleeping area by a doggy door they activated outside their cage, then a gate leading into the play area. They were also pleased my dogs had not been wormed in the last week so they could use their poo for the worm farm, lol.

My dog trainer recommended Aussie Pet Resort in Woodford. Aussie Pet Resort, Woodford QUEENSLAND

They seem to know what they're doing and I don't trust my friends to handle my somewhat difficult dog. I haven't had any experience with them yet but I'll let you know in October how it went : )

We're leaving for a weekend in October and a few weeks at Christmas time (I feel super guilty about this but my family lives in the Netherlands and I haven't been back in two years. We even looked into bringing him over there and staying there for three months but alas! Quarantine is a B**** and I hate the idea of him on a plane for 24 hours)
