    Default Strange Behaviour

    Hi all,

I've own two dogs, a 6 year old BC x Collie and a 3yo BC. They are both females and get on famously together, although the BC has a strange habit, she likes to stick her bum in the other dogs face to the point of full on reversing and almost straddles the dogs head! She's been seen to do this to other dogs as well, especially when they are lying down. Is it an initiation to play or is she asserting her dominance?

She is a lovely dog though, very full of life and willing to please and she gets on well with most other dogs but has a distinct dislike for small yappy dogs. I'm not particularly worried about her behaviour but would just like some sort of reason behind it. Thanks

Okay, well it may be passive aggressive behaviour but what is it and what is in it for her?

    Is she desexed?

It may be that she is trying to appease the other dogs but has never learnt correct boundaires. How many puppies in her litter?

She's desexed for sure, I think there were about 6 or 7 pups in the litter (can't remember for sure it was about three years ago! =)) But she is small for a BC only about 510mm at the shoulder, she may have been the runt but she's never gave any indication that she was, plus I must add I've always had working dog breeds and I have never seen another dog do this

I've not seen it before either. Sounds like super appeasement - look have my bum - I wont hurt you - promise! My dog would bite her on the bottom lol

Yes, it's certainly strange behaviour, I watched her do it today and she was almost sitting on my other dogs head. Sometimes the older dog will just take it and other times she gets up and they play. I guess I'll just put it down as her curious quirk, we all have them I guess (no I don't stick my bum in other people's faces...lol)
