    Default Staffys in Nsw

    hi
i just recently change the owner details on my staffys micro chip. on the form i put the breed as staffordshire bull terrier. when i recieved the identification certificate it says the breed is an american staffordshire terrier. does this mean they will think its a pitt bul and not a staffy?

Pitbulls and AmStaffs are a similar breed but they have several key differences that a (trained and educated) ranger will recognise. Though they aren't targeted by BSL yet, there are cases in QLD that have mistaken StaffyAmstaff purebreds and crosses with pits. Just to be safe, get in touch with your council and request a change to the details. Is the dog papered as a SBT?

In that case, change the breed on the chip ASAP.
