    Default Vent.BYB

I was approached in the supermarket yesterday by someone I know asking about my Husky as she had seen us walking around town. Thats fine, but this was our very short conversation
    You have a Husky
    Yes,with some small talk
    Is he a male?
    Yes he is
    IS HE FIXED?
    YES HE IS!!!!
OH I have a female Husky and looking for a male to breed with her.
I saw RED!!!!! and stood there in shock, had to bite my tongue, much to the suprise of my OH,lol.
She then said if you hear of anyone can you let us know............definately not!!!
It just shows how irresponsible people can be and also why BYB will unfortunately will continue to be out there.
    Vent over
    Thanks for listening

I agree Clea! People were shocked when we got Poppy desexed! We had comments like "Oh, you should of bred her, you could of made good money on Cav puppies!" Meanwhile she is not even a pure Cav but people just see the $$$ so sad!

People have even asked me about Kimba!! They see her and its obvious she is a cross! At first I was just like "no Shes desexed"
When I was asked last time if I was going to breed her I said "Oh no, when you adopt a dog they desex them so that even more dogs aren't put into pounds and shelters. You do know hundreds of dogs get put down every year because of people breeding their own dogs?" I'm happy to fill people in with the whole BYB speech.

My neighbour has a pure Aus Kelpie, an when I moved in here she asked about holly(BC X Kelpie), with remarks that they would have beautiful babies. I just replied I never wanted puppies, Holly is just perfect the way she is. I just hate it when people say that the dogs will have a better temprement once they have had a litter.
Holly had been clearly just been desexed. With cute lil shaved belly.

I've noticed that female dogs - who have had litters, often have saggy tits for ever after. Sigh.

Depending where I'm at, I tend to ask a lot of questions about genetic testing, and finding homes for puppies and taking puppies back and how much it costs - ie all the vet expenses, and how everyone I know that breeds with care, don't make any money out of it once vet bills are paid. And how horrible it is to find something went wrong at a home that you thought would be good for the puppy etc etc. And then I might start about how many of these puppies end up being PTS, but most people who are planning to do this think they will find good paying homes for every puppy. It's easy right?

Easy as, thats why i ended up with a jack russel pup that had bee roaming the streets, the vet and i estimated it to be around 6 weeks, god knows what happened to the rest of the litter, i'd rather not. Luckily for Cougar i already knew of people who wanted a dog of his size and temperment so he's now living a great, nutless life chasing birds around an apple orchard, but he was one of the lucky ones.

People asked me why i got Peg desexed, i just looked at them as though they were idiots.

Some people said the same when I said I was getting Sophie desexed. I mean she is purebred, healthy lines etc. I mean we got her to breed with, BUT she does not have the temperment we needed and while I would have loved to have Sophie pups, and almost took her for service, she would not have liked being a mum, her pups would not have been good enough for what we need, and I would just be making more fluffies and quite frankly a lot of people wanting poodles scare the crap out of me!!
All in all it was better not to go there with her, but like you said some people just didnt understand why I wouldnt make some dosh off her

Breeding, Showing, Training and general crazy making!!!
If you seek understanding listen to the music, not the song.

At the end of the day, breeding is about the dogs, not the money, unfortunatly many people out there think its a quick buck, not knowing/caring about the consiquences to the mum and pups
