    Default Madeline Update Thread

Hippo enquired about Maddy so I thought I might update everyone

For those who may not have been following, Madeline was diognosed with Canine Spondylosis (I think I spelt that right)
While we can treat the symtoms we cant treat the condition and it will over the years get worse.

She's been off painkillers for 2 weeks now and is doing great. Most days she's her normal bouncy self. But she does have bad days.
She has the most trouble early morning and night times.

When she wakes she crawls along the floor a couple of meters before she can stand. And she's very careful walking up stairs, she'lll come running up and skid to a stop and slowly make her way up putting 4 paws on each step before going to the next.

It's recommended she gets 2 20 min walks a day. And I been taking her as much as I can but it causes her alot of stress (she's never dealt well with walks) so her exersize is mainly in the yard.
I am waiting on a new blackdog head collar that may help put less stress on neck if she starts to carry on while walking, so hopefully that will help.

Oh has got a photo of her xray on his phone I'll try to get it off him so I can post it tonight.

I applaud you for patience. You doing a great job!!... I know you you feel.

Our family dog that passed away at 14 suffered from a problem with her lower back and hips... she was only given 6 months to live.. she fought for another year and a bit...
Untill it was old age that took her..

These animals have so much strength and determination and im sure you can see it your dog.

Once again i think your doing a great job, keep it up!!

Thanks for the update. I'm glad she's going Ok without the pain killers.

Dogs have amazing strength and determination and live each day as it comes so I'm sure your giving her the best life possible and she is very happy with that.

Thanks for the update Bordeaux. Sounds like she is doing ok. No pain killers is excellent.

I know you said that the hydrotherapy place is to far away but have you looked into getting regular massages for her?

I'm in the middle of looking at massage and bowen, didn't think of acupuncture I'll add that to the list.I'm giving her a daily back rub which she loves so I think she'd take well to massage. Not sure if she'd stay still enough for acupuncture.

The problem, as horrible as it is to say, is money is really tight at the moment.

We can only do what we can do!

Cesar Millan uses acupuncture a lot...that is why I thought maybe it would be a good idea

Good to hear she's doing ok - give her a hug from me. Well done for being so patient and understanding with her, it sounds like she appreciates it!
