You know, as this thread seems to have gravitated to us discussing certain issues about where the forum is going, how it is being run etc, well why don't we look at some facts...

Morgan has had moderators in the past. The members here at that time were screaming for moderators. So they were put in place. Once again, the identity of the moderators was made obvious to all members.

I feel sorry for those mods! They couldn't win either way. If they sat back and refrained from posting much and just went about their business as moderators, they were accused of being slack and a number of other things to my understanding.

On the other hand, if those mods voiced their own opinions (which they should have been entitled to do IMO) all hell broke loose and Morgan was inundated with trivial messages from members whinging about this comment, whinging about that comment. It just wasn't worth the migraines it caused him, so he removed them from that position!

When things started getting way out of hand again, and it was brought to Morgan's attention by the current round of members that moderators were again needed, he acted.

This will ALWAYS be the case here when a moderator's identity is public for all to see.
A moderator or administrator acts, and before you know it it's a full-on debate between those who agree with the decision made, and those who don't.

To be perfectly blunt acting as mod here is not a joy, you know. If anything it's a ruddy large headache!!! One doesn't get paid for one's input. One doesn't get thanked for one's input. 50% of members may agree with a mod's decision and respect it, but unfortunately the other 50% will always have a problem with it.
It's a right shame that 100% of members don't respect it - whether they agree or not.

This is just something to think about for the future concerning whomever takes my place as moderator. If anyone cannot bring themselves to respect the decisions made by mods and admin, perhaps they shouldn't be here, or on any forum for that matter.

Hy - I stated my opinion without being rude or offensive! I'm allowed to do that!!! At least once a week there are closed threads, banned members, offensive and rude replies! Not all forums are like this! So why does this one hav to be that way???

The above was your comment - therefore I am asking you - how do you want to change this? Threads are closed when the OPs ask for them to be closed. Members are banned when they blatently and seriously violate rules. All forums are not like this? Who knows? I haven't done a study of every forum within Australia to judge the correctness of that deduction or not, so wouldn't know.

Amy, I am well aware of your personal feelings towards me. Do you wish to continue this discussion here, or would you prefer to do so via PM? Because you see, here you can say whatever you want to me and my hands are somewhat tied, and I think you know that. But I would like to discuss it with you, as I'm tired of not being able to voice my opinion as you seem to be able to do.

So you would prefer me to PM you so you can voice your opinion??? Why can't you do it here? Your the mod? You have the ability to enforce forum rules and if you feel I am being rude and offensive and breaking forum rules well then do something about it?

I don't have any "personal feelings" towards you as a person. I am simply frustrated at what I percieve to be as lack of consequences for rude and offensive posts. Calling people names, swearing at members, being vindictive towards their actions. I'm sorry if you feel I am attacking you personally but that's not the case!

Amy, where are my posts rude and offensive? Where on earth am I swearing AT members? Where do I call ppl names? (Oh hang on, yep, I just did refer to a sex offender by a name in another thread. I stand by my decision to do so.)

Okay, if a member is told they are a 'piece of ****' and told to 'go jump in front of a bus' with no obvious reason to warrant such abuse, yep I catagorise that as rude and offensive.

What you see as rude and offensive, I may not. What I see as rude and offensive, Morgan himself may not. We are all different ppl with different ideas of what constitutes abuse or violation. That is the hardest part of all.
For example, I may recieve 5 different reports about posts - the reporter states their reason that such and such post is offensive. I can read 5 posts, yet only see 2 or 3 that appear offensive. Therefore I will not act and edit or delete something that I seriously cannot see a violation in.
    Do you see my point?

Amy, what is your point in all this, please? If this was other members, I would suggest they take it to PM. Why do you not feel I have the same right to suggest that?

You have just proved the point I've been trying to make. You say "you're the mod." I cannot speak as DA can I? I always have the mod thing thrown back at me. I really can't see how anybody can be both successfully in the long term.

Some members here have commented (myself included) over time about the fact that Morgan rarely posts. I now fully understand why he wouldn't TBH.

    Hi Everyone,

I have been following this posting. I want to thank to those members who participated as i witnessed their passion for our beloved dogs. We have different ways of showing it.
I think the rest issues regarding banning/admin etc over this posting is unnecessary. When people talk about "rude", how can you define it? Have you been to a swimming pool recently? Which lane will you choose? Fast, medium, or slow? Is your local swimming pool has fast swimmers as those at North Sydney Swimming pool?

Jjames-you upset me initially but i grew to appreciate your postings. I hope I can find more from you in different postings in the near future.

A thought. Why not use this thread for thinking and making plans for our own dogs (or other pets) in the event of our health declining, disability or death?

We all (including me) have strong opinions on what was decided for Sumo.

If YOU fell under a bus today, what do you think would happen to yours? Have you not thought of it yet as you are as healthy as a horse and will think about it later if it applies?

I have a plan for my birds but as of earlier today had not really planned for my dogs. I am grateful that my attention was drawn to this by Sumo's plight.

They were only 6 weeks old when I was diagnosed with cancer and my treatment has been my priority. I know that in the event of my death that hubby could not handle having 3 here. I have someone who will contact him and advise of rescue numbers (he does not use the computer and at that time would be grieving and overwhelmed. I would not want them abandoned to a pound but would prefer he was there to PTS if that was the only way) to call and she herself as a fail safe back up to take one or two to rehome for me should he want this.

Do YOU have a worst case scenario plan in place?

Any posts made under the name of Di_dee1 one can be used by anyone as I do not give a rats.

    Great post Di.

No plan in place here. Definately something to think about at length, because one never knows what's around the corner.

At present my plan is with my family, however i feel it necessary for there to be a plan b, you never know.

Its funny that you bring this up Di as I inherited Peggy through the sudden death of a close friend. We had previously spoken about me taking over ownership of Peggy if anything ever happened, but i never expected it to happen so quickly.

Luckily due to our previous talks I was able to take in Peggy straight away, making the process easier for all involved. I think this is something that should also be taken into consideration when making these plans, as Di said, it can happen to anyone at any time.
