We cannot identify anything without a photo. Post one up and people can tell you what it is

You and the council ranger cannot possibly tell what breed a dog is by looking at it.

It is possible to get a dna test done in Australia that gives an idea of doggy ancestry. And given that there are so very few real pitbulls (registered before the ban) in Australia, it's highly unlikely that yours could be a pitbull. Staffy x, maybe. Pitbull x, unlikely.

And as you may have already discovered, it is really really important to fight any suggestion that your dog might be a pitbull or pitbull x.

We've got no photo to go on either, but we could only guess. Look up American Staffordshires - your dog might look like one of them. Though I'd be reluctant to say so after an ill informed judge in QLD decided that Amstaff is the same as a pitbull, by the same reasoning we might argue that a dog is a wolf.

Sorry i dont know what breed you red dog is as i am not in the know about a lot of breeds... but i can say IMO he is not a "Staffordshire Bull Terrier" that's for sure.
