we are deciding what to do. we have a dilemma.

he has bitten my 2 year old daughter once before about 6 months ago, and he has just started growling and snapping at her again. he growls at kids in the playground too.

some say he is pitbull, but we have no idea. he ws a camp dog from the streets of alice springs.

I'm not sure why you would be asking what breed he is then? What has the breed got to do with it?

Is he your dog and lives with you? or does he belong to someone else?

If he's yours, well obviously you have a very big problem! If that is the case, keep him away from all children for a start, then look at your options.

we ask because a few people have said he looks pitbull, and to my knowledge, these arent allowed to be rehomed.

and he is my mums dog, and we live with my mum.

Oh dear, not a good scenario then.

Seriously, you can't stuff around with this one. Are you able to ensure that the dog and the children are not together?

Any breed of dog that has bitten, seems threatening to be like that again can NOT be in a home with kids IMO.

If one of my beloved dogs bit someone I would have no option but to PTS. I have grandchildren who visit here, one of my dogs is iffy, so I take measures that they will be totally separated ALL the time. Can the dog be segregated from the child at all times? Muzzled when taken out?

Any posts made under the name of Di_dee1 one can be used by anyone as I do not give a rats.

Could be any breed. Dog off the streets you wouldn't know unless you met the parents. You do have to take each situation and assess but no way should any breed of dog that growl or snaps at kids be rehomed. It is up to you but if the dog is too dangerous to keep in your home then why would you risk it in someone elses.
