    Angry Damn Saluki!!!!

Bloody Buzz just gave me a heart attack!!!
I was out with them, came inside for five and went back out. Buzz was no where to be seen I called and called and went down the paddock to find him but he was not there!! All the others were still here but he had taken off by himself. I neally died when I got a phone call from some lovely people who had found him on the main road! He had not only gotten out of the house yard he had gone through two paddocks, over the train tracks, and through another paddock just to make it to the main road and was standing in the middle of the road!! I COULD KILL HIM!
SO I drove down the road to pick him up and now he is on the chain
I hate having to put him on it but it is the only way to keep him around. The bastard chews through/climbs/jumps EVERYTHING he is put in! I am at my witts end on how to keep him here short of keeping him chained when I am not out there keeping an eye on him.
Now he is howling his head off He hates the chain, I hate the chain, but the idiot has a death wish

Sometimes we do what we have to do. Some dogs are real buggers.

Any posts made under the name of Di_dee1 one can be used by anyone as I do not give a rats.

This is oh-so familiar to me Ashaari... Just one Saluki and their godamn escaping antics can have you busier than if you had 50 dogs!!

Ours had to be crated. When we had two they didn't settle each other, they just had a partner in crime. They destroyed soft crates, they destroyed wire. They can undo mesh wire with their teeth and make a hole to squeeze through. They will chew weldmesh or chainlink until they bleed. They will trip or pick gate latches. Our girl once got hung by her head through the hand hole in a gate - about 10cm square. Lucky she had her tip-toes through the chainlink or she would've choked within minutes. I thought I'd have to ring the local police rescue to cut her loose! After much twisting and pushing her head popped through. Didn't stop her trying again either.

Our co-owned male was even more nerve racking! I used to wonder how I would explain to his breeder that her stud prospect was flat under a truck or train...

He squeezed through a 10cm gap in our only four foot roofed pen. Crating and penning them is bloody hard work as well as they will go into frantic escape mode, dig if they're not on concrete, and tear/chew at wire if they are. Then comes the protests... the using their water bowl as a toilet, painting with poo... the joy goes on...

I wouldn't have them again unless they had unlimited free desert to roam in. So, I wouldn't have them again. I love them and I miss mine - in some ways. But I don't miss the constant fear of injury and loss, the intensive daily management...

Oh god I get that Nat!
I love Buzz to death, that is the ONLY reason he is still around.
But by god there are times that I wish I didnt have him.

Neither did I until I had one as well. Once you have one all the stories start coming out...
Not simple escape artists - they are in a league of their own! And once they're out they move so fast they are a very long way away indeed....
