    Default World's Best Dog Yard?

We finished OH's dog yard on the long weekend, fence is 2m high to keep the jumpers in. No determined diggers as yet but we'll deal with that if it crops up.

OH is going to knock up a shelter to put the kennel under then we should be in business

What would you put in a dog yard to make it the greatest dog yard ever?

I'm thinking paddle pools, I'm thinking tunnels, things to jump on and lie on and hide under and keep 3 dogs as occupied as possible when we're not around.

What's in your yard? What have you seen that works? Where does one buy a tunnel???

All our yards have kennels, toys, benches and wadepools or bathtubs for the dogs to play in. There are half tanks in for the big dogs to climb on or sleep in. I have not got tunnels and I am not sure they would 'play' with them without you there but it is worth a try. The toys are changed over every now and again just to keep them 'new' for the dogs but I have found that most of mine profer to play when I am there ans sleep in ther sun when I am not.

Also for future referance all our yards are bordered with dug in concrete or railway sleepers to stop diggers. The whippets LOVE to dig lol

Yep we're thinking either concrete or L-shaped chicken wire, but none of them have been big diggers as yet (although when Suki hears the cows calling she might pull some new tricks out of her sleeve)

In my yard at the moment there's a wall about 0.5m high and a few metres long, dogs love to jump over it and chase each other round it, was thinking a tunnel might have similar purpose. Maybe a big concrete pipe if we could get our paws on one....

Don't worry Ashaari, there will be toys

I have a tunnel for mine in the backyard. Its just a play tunnel my daughter had as a toddler which since has not been used. Came across it a couple months ago and thought 'wow, that would be good for the dog' and then had to train her so she knows its safe. I started by throwing dog biscuits in it so she would go in and get them, then threw them further until she goes out the other side.

I like it, I like it a lot.........would a half-shell pool full of sand do the job or would they dig all the sand out of it? What's your tunnel made of, Red?

If they are anything like my dogs the sand will just end up everywhere
If your dogs are not diggers though I would not worry too much

We're getting a free shed so that's going in asap - at the moment there's only a shade cloth for cover. Then it's off to the salvo's for an old couch!
