Default Off to Pick Up the New Fur-child...

So it had to be raining today, didn't it! I have a two-hour drive ahead of me to get to the vet Renbury pound uses where I'll be picking up Jaeger, the new pound puppy! He was so matted they had to shave everything off...so he will be needing a jumper! Luckily, it's Thursday, and PetO's is open late tonight.

Wish me luck! I'm dragging Carl along since he sleeps like a rock in the car.

    And pics ye shall have!

    How he looked before:

    What he looks like now:

Jaeger (or Jag for short) looks like a shaved rat! Unfortunately, all the hair was dreadlocked and matted right down to the root so it had to come off. I am slightly worried about him being cold since it is June, and we live coastally, but I am sure he will be fine, being an indoor & bedroom dog, and all.

Anyway, there was a lot of rain on the way over. Carl was pulling faces at me in the rearview, I suspect he needed to use the bathroom. Jag jumped right into the car after a short walk down the road in which both boys did their business! Jag doesn't appear to be a marker which is good because Carl is alpha but not territorial. They get along really well.

I suspect he's been a pet before... He sat on one side of the car the whole way home, with a bit of crying but that's to be expected when you've been caged for two weeks and a stray for longer! The whining quietened when we hit the M5, I ignored it and praised when he was quiet. We got back to the Northern Beaches and met my sister and our other two dogs for an hour-long walk at the offleash dog oval & adjoining beach. Not a fan of water, but he likes the sand!

Carl was tuckered out before Jag, and he's my jogging partner. He did have a couple of big drinks from the bowl at the tap which is good, since Mischa is too much of a princess to drink anywhere but her own bowl.

Next stop was PetO's where my best friend works at the vet within the complex... Jag now has a warm fur-lined coat, a jumper for PJ-use and a red collar the same as Carl's black one! I'm still wondering whether to buy a crate for him since my bed is crammed at night, between the other ferals and me.

My sister has him at her boyfriend's for tonight, and tomorrow we're going to visit our horses out near Hornsby. I'm sure he's gonna love the beach life!

Also, I was almost 100% sure when we looked at him initially that he was desexed... There was nothing there. However, he has had one of his ears tattooed since being at the vet (and it's super tender, the poor dog), but there are no external stitches. The vet nurse said to come back in 10 to 14 days to have stitches removed. As a vet nurse, I am pretttty sure if he had internal stitches, they wouldn't need removing.

And he has no muscle tone in his hindquarters. Looking at Carl's bum and then his has me a bit dizzy, Carl is so buff! Jag'll soon have buns of rippling steel...
