I am intrigued by your lack of mosquitos, heartworm and tapeworm, but frightened by your cold. Do you have ticks and fleas too?

Sorry this seems to have gone a bit OT...

Unfortunately I think just because someone is listed with Dogzonline does not necessarily mean they are legit...i have come across a couple dodgy ones.

My uncle used to live in Hobart and his gf in Launceston! We went there one winter and one summer and both times were great! Much colder but very beautiful! Went to Freycinet (sp?) in the summer! I could t believe how cold the water was!

Oh, I don't deny that there are some bad breeders on there, but it's just a good place to have a look at some breeders that are most likely to be reputable. Rather than say, googling for them.
Much research needs to be done after you pick a breeder from the list.
If you are just after a pet then buying a puppy that you can view before purchasing is always the best idea (in your state)
Showies tend to know the good and bad kennels in any breed through word of mouth so it opens up the possibilities for interstate purchases.

Never seen a tick here, but our house was infested with fleas when we moved in... yuck.
Never been to Freycinet, Launceston is just so awesome, I don't need to travel to other places

It's not fog, it's "dream haze" from the magical land of candy. Only a true Launcestonian can see through it

    Ok, it's fog.

Anywhere there is water in South Australia, there are mozzies.

SA vets recommend heart worm prevention treatment.

I have reported the website to its Perth based domain name registrar and its USA based web hosting service - so hopefully one or both of them will investigate and decide he's bad for their business. He definitely voilates their terms of service. I'm surprised the SA police and office of consumer affairs have not also done this.

Sadly we do get mozzies in the summer, but for some reason they don't carry heartworm....I think we have pretty strict quarantine rules for people bringing dogs into the state (proof of recent worming ) so have managed to stay heartworm free

I can confirm we do get ticks, friend's JRT picks up bucketloads in the bush round Deloraine, she's become quite the tick extraction expert.

Fingers fell off from frostbite yesterday, I'm typing this with my mouth using a pencil

    ETA: did someone say OT?

Can I hiijack this post to ask a serious question? Promise to post something OT at the end...

Re the heartworm issue in Victoria? When did we manage to get rid of them? My childhood doglet died of heartworm infestation...

... I am typing this telepathically as I am buried under a mountain of tissues and Mr Pinkest refuses to rescue me as he is too busy laughing. Hmph.

Can't answer that one unfortunately. My pup came from Victoria though and he wasn't treated for it. He just scraped through on not needing proof on the hidatus tapeworm because of his age when he arrived (he had been done for it anyway, but breeder didn't send vet cert)
