    Default Grrr....BYB'S!

So I went into a pet shop the other day with a big sign out the front say "WE DO NOT SUPPORT BACKYARD BREEDERS!" I thought wow, Il go in for a look. Walk in and there is about 6 different breeds of puppies being sold.

I pretend to be interested in the 'purebred' boxer and asked the checkout chic for some help. There was a big sign on the glass cage door saying that all dogs are purebreds and come from reputable breeders (well no one reputable I know would sell to a pet store ). I asked her to explain.

Well this is how she put it. The pet shop gets it from a company that are in contact with "heaps" of reputable breeders who dont have enough homes for their pups (WTF??) and they send them to different pet stores.

Well I was absolutely FUMING by the time I got out of there, I did get a picture of the sign (il upload n post later) and I managed to put off a couple who wanted the little boxer....they asked if I was buying her, I said yes, when I left they were outside and I explained that she didnt come from a good breeder and that when the lady got her out for me to hold she was snorting.....YES SNORTING WHEN BREATHING!!! CONTINUOUSLY!!

Anyway here is the place the pet shop gets the pups from...............

    PREPARE TO BE ANGERED!!!

    ACA Breeders Kennels - Home

Is there any way to stop this??????

Going to Burke's website,he does indeed link to ACA Breeders. Please see below in the 'Further Information'

    Spoodle

I think if he knew that little boxer was snorting as she was he would be horrified. They obviously knew he was coming and only had the best out,and limited. I would be contacting Burke himself via email or anyway i could and making a complaint to him also on the condition etc you found when you were there. He is a man with a big reputation, and to have his name linked to a sh!thole like that would be horrifying i think,at least i hope.

    That is disgusting!!

Good on you for putting those people off buying the boxer.

Nice to see they have lots of cross breeds that are being passed off as actual breeds.

Boxadors - 'Using a lab as one parent improves the jaw of the boxer' Umm do they mean the boxers undershot jaw? It's SUPPOSED to be like that!

And this?!!! 'We also cross Labradors with many other breeds as they are such a wonderful breed.'

You know, I was looking at websites the other day that help you choose a breed. I am absolutely disgusted they list cross breeds as breeds. They are not breeds!

    I am absolutely fuming

ETA - 'Most of our breeders are in Gippsland and southern NSW. Some are large full time breeders, others are dairy farmers who supplement their income with a few litters and others live in towns breeding an occasional litter.' No, that's not BYBing is it?

'We can assure you that all dogs and their puppies receive the best care. For example, our largest breeder employs 8 staff who are with the dogs 7 days a week...' If they have to employ 8 staff then I call that a puppy mill!

Judge you should go in there and ask to see proof of the pup's parent's health testing that has been done.

Not much chance Burke would care - he's a great supporter of DD and as far as I am aware, high profile support such as his is a big part of the puppy farm/DD problem. His sites make all sorts of outrageous claims regarding the superiority and health of DD crosses, in the face of scientific reason and evidence from regretful purchasers to the contrary.

That website is really infuriating! I like the way they have a note at the bottom of their long list of "breeds" (read crossbreeds) about how they have crosses of all these breeds available!

Unbelievable, I bet most people believe all the crap they put about their dogs being good temperament and health, . Is BYB the same as puppy farmer?

From my understanding Natty he was the first to promote it?? And from there DD's just took off.

I was with the Kelpie club when he came to do the breed profile, we couldn't wait to get rid of him by the end of the day he was so rude.

He also used to use the pond place down the road from us for a lot of his "shots" etc, water feature segments and they banned him for various reasons.

    DD..designer dogs.
To me the difference is a puppy farmer breeds willy nilly in great quantity and in abysmal conditions a huge amount of puppeies for profit and to feed the public with those cute little irresistible pups. A back yard breeder to me is a person who just breeds to let the bitch have a litter and who thinks crossing A with B is just fine. Another woeful excuse I have heard for doing it is to let the kids have the experience of seeing birth and puppies, kittens etc. They also mostly never care what situations these puppies given away or sold will be going into.

Any posts made under the name of Di_dee1 one can be used by anyone as I do not give a rats.
