I wouldn't buy a dog unless its look appealed to me, dont see this as shallow, see it as my choice.

    meh

Frosty's sister was much prettier than Frosty - but didn't like being with me. Made the decision pretty easy. If I was going to pick a dog on looks alone, I think one of those Iberian rabbit hunting dogs have the look I like. I love the look of whippets too.

Bloke wise - I like looking at the cute ones, but I have trouble believing anything they say to me. Occasionally there is an exceptional one who can listen as well as talk, but he's usually happily married with three children or prefers blokes.

That's funny, when it comes to buying, I wouldn't either, but if I found a very ugly looking dog (if that exists), or a dog that I don't like by its looks, it wouldn't matter to me at all.
Respect and you shall be respected. Animal is always right.

I agree with Peter nd Clea- I wouldn't buy a dog if I didn't like the way it looked. Simple as that. I wouldn't want to spend years with a dog I found as unattractive.

Wow - this thread is taking a really awesome turn. But going back to the original I’m interested in the breed so I can find out more information about the dogs health issues, temperament to see if its well suited to family lifestyle. Thanks everyone for your posts there some interesting responses.

good to see you back to satisfy our curiosity...

I was thinking the dog - being from Canada might be a cross of a nova scotia duck tolling retriever - which look the same as brown border collies to me but have a different personality / temperment
