I know someone who has 2 Cavalier X Labradors (I refuse to use that stupid name, plus my friend doesn't use it). They are funny looking things but seem sweet. Outside of that I can't really tell you much about them.

Do you or your friend have any pictures of them? Personally I don't like the name much either. Reminds me too much of cadaver.

Sorry not comfortable posting pictures of my friends dogs online. but looks similar to this one:-

More Cav in the face, taller than a Cav but not as big as a lab, same colour as this. Weird body shapes.

There is less chance of the mating being a 'healthy' mating because there are not controls, no governing bodies, no paperwork and no history to a cross bred dog in general.

Very, very, very few cross breeders actually LOOK INTO the lines of the dogs they are abut to mate.

Most people who breed cross bred dogs are bybs. They don't answer to any CoE, they don't answer to any body that governs requirements for breeding and they are not judged by their peers.

And they also dont advocate inbreeding or line breeding to try for the exact look! Not all people who breed cross breeds are puppy mills! Some do it very responsibly, with all the health checks, and breed beautiful healthy dogs.

BAD Backyard breeders are the same as BAD registered breeders, theres good and bad in both...puppy mills, with dozens of dogs, living there entire lives in cages are criminal! Cross breeder or registered breeder, buyers need to see 2 generations at least of health certificates.

But at least with bad registered breeders they can be dobbed in to the state clubs and be struck off, byb's just do whatever they please. ANKC relies largely on reports made by buyers and other breeders, they simply do not have the time or resources to investigate every single breeder... hence we have the puppy mill police, people like you and me who report these dodgy breeders.
Agree though, no matter where the dog comes from 2 gens of health certificates is a definite.

Things are never going to change until there is serious consequences for animal abuse. There needs to be minimum jail terms for people with large numbers of dogs living in appalling conditions and treated inhumanely. Close down the sales on live pets excluding birds and goldfish in pet shops and enforce a maximum dog limit per household for breeders which will include extensive health certs for each dog. I dont think the ANKC has ever gone far enough in protecting the health of dogs. And yes crested, we need a puppy mill hotline, and we will have it on speed dial.

Let me start with a little lesson which will make your life easier and it will stop my brain from hurting (as much) when I read your posts.

To quote - click on the button of the post you want to quote. Do not remove anything in between brackets. If you want to take bits only and quote them, add the word QUOTE in square brackets before the start of the text you are quoting and then add the same word, in square brackets, at the end of the text you are quoting but also add a forward slash.

You obviously forget earlier lessons taught easily as I am sure you were giving praise for someone showing you how to quote in another thread. However, back to the subject....

Do you really think a backyard breeder, who has no controls over them, would not line breed or inbreed? Seriously? The only difference would be is that they wouldn't neccessarily understand the terms or why they need to be careful when doing it.

Who said anything about puppymills? Personally, I'd rather use the aussie term and not the americanism, and I call them puppy farmers. I hadn't mentioned anything about puppy farmers either so why not save your words about them for another day and try to discuss the subject at hand.

BAD Backyard breeders are the same as BAD registered breeders, theres good and bad in both...puppy mills, with dozens of dogs, living there entire lives in cages are criminal! Cross breeder or registered breeder, buyers need to see 2 generations at least of health certificates.
Now there's a valid point. I'd like to see your average cross bred breeder show evidence that they are even aware of generations of their breeding stock, let alone show health certificates. If nothing else, you'd have a lot more chance of a pure bred dog breeder knowing this information and actively seeking it (discounting the LAA).

Now, back to your usual passive aggressive style of post - I fail to comprehend why you must always drag registered breeders down in EVERY post you make. We were discussing a cross bred dog ans the 'ethics' comment which I explained in my personal way... and yet you drag it back to 'registered breeders'. You claim to be a registered breeder but you are the first to defend cross bred breeders and bybs it seems. I personally think you tell porkies.

I find this one interesting when people say it and, obviously, you are not the first to have said it, but for this thread you are so I'll ask the question of you.

Do you not think that birds and or fish can be treated imhumanely, go to wrong homes, be purchased on a whim and all the rest of the reasons that apparently apply to the sale of puppies and kittens in petshops?
