The difference between a lab and a shar pei is huge

You need to make a list about what you want in a dog and what you can offer a dog, then we should be able to help from there

Also your family and living arrangements

Well, i tend to disagree on the huge yard part.

I have 2 labs (well crosses anyway) and a GSD, and our yard isn't what I'd call huge. I figure as long as you give them time to blow off steam, they'll be fine. Ours spend most of the day inside anyway, and they sleep inside at night, however, I'm home pretty much every day.

    Good luck with your choice.

OK perhaps I'll explain a bit about myself. I'm a 24 year old male, looking for a companion dog. I want something loyal and being able to train the dog somewhat is also important to me.

So if anyone has any suggestions, that would be great.

    Thanks

how much exercise will the dog get?
How much time will you put into training?
Will the dog be inside or outside or both?
What sort of coat do you want? Long, short, one that needs to be clipped, one that you dont really have to worry about?
how much time will the dog be left alone during the day?

Well the main concern is I don't have a huge backyard. I'm willing to take the dog for walks, etc to overcome that issue.

The only other thing is I do work full-time so there will be times where the dog will be home alone.

I'm happy to have the dog inside and/or outside.

I think I prefer a short coat but I guess one that is low maintenance would be best. Am willing to train the dog.

    Thanks

Go check out your local shelter/RSPCA, and don't hold yourself to one or two breeds.
Im 97% sure you will find something that tickles your fancy

I also think have a look at a shelter after doing some research what kind of breed would suit you. Sometimes two are better than one if you are working all day.

Any posts made under the name of Di_dee1 one can be used by anyone as I do not give a rats.

I have a labradoodle and I love her to bits. Would not give her up for anything
    BUT
if I knew what I know now I would not have got her.
She has a good temperament but I have met so many that have health problems and behviour issues. She has had some health issues which we have got on top of now but she cost us a bomb before we did.
Have a good look at some of the breeds that come up on the selection quizzes. Even go to a few dog shows and ask questions.
