Good on you Myf! Maybe we should all write letters of support once it's been published - inundate the editor!

    I don't honestly understand this.

Good on you Myf, for your letter to the Editor, but can someone tell me if this is legally correct?

A pedigree dog is found by the local pound, and owner was 'forced' to de-sex dog before it being released from pound? HUH?

Have I missed something here, or are there facts missing from the story of the fellow with the original letter to the Editor?

DA, the way I read it was that the dog in question was a pure-bred, but not pedigree ie main registered. I doubt anyone who was a registered breeder or involved with showing would refer to a dog as "thoroughbred". By papers, I assumed they meant the microchip papers that proves ownership, rather than pedigree papers (sorry not sure of terminology).

Seems to me that the person complaining in the original letter was more concerned they couldn't breed with the dog, I would have thought that if they were registered breeders or were showing they would have mentioned this.

    That's MY interpretation anyway.

DA, all animals sold or returned from a pound or shelter must be wormed, microchipped, vaccinated and desexed. Its a rule made by the Department of Primary Industries.

Thanks Myf. When did this rule come into play, do you know? As in what year?
