Thread: Curling Up???

  1. #1

    Default Curling Up???

Poppy has began curling up to sleep. She doesn't tend to do it in her crate, but rather when she snoozes on the carpet in the lounge or anywhere else out of her crate.

Admitedly we don't have a second bed for her in the lounge room and tend to not move the crate from bedroom to lounge and then back again each and every day!

So, my question is, is this new curl up in a ball sleep routine because she is cold/withou a bed to snooze on or is it just something puppies do?

She doesnt do it if she snoozes on the couch with us!

Don't know about up your way Amy, but it's damn cold tonight! Most of mine curl up if they get a bit cold, I think they also do it if it's comfortable! Mind you, tonight they are all rugged up and the heating is on!

Frosty does the "dead cockroach" (DC) if it's hot, ie upside down with her paws in the air. She does the curl up tight thing when she's feeling insecure, or it's a bit cold or not warm enough for dead cockroach, or there's not much room to sleep stretched out.

If she's really cold, she shivers. I sometimes put a jumper or blanky over the top of her when she's curled up and I think it's cold but this usually ends up with her going DC. She was plenty warm enough without the blanky.

Thanks GAG! I went to visit my family in Newcastle at Easter (my bro is at Uni there) and it was MUCH MUCH colder than here!

We have the windows open tonight and its very pleasent. Cool but nice.

She seems to like curling up and seems very content snoozing in a little ball!

She has a polar fleece blanket over her crate and a baby polar fleece blanket inside with her so I would say shes nice and warm in there!

Might have to get her a cozy bed for out in the lounge room too as we tend to just leave the crate in our bedroom now.

Why does "sleep flat" make me picture a dog lying like a starfish on the floor.....

I know I've got a couple on my hard disc. I'll try & find them to post. Apparently it's a White Sheppie thing. Those dogs are gorgeous, but gees they do some weird things.
