One of the little italian greyhounds boarding with me has been debarked, was done before current owner got him. She said to me that she has to keep an eye on him as the downside is that if he hurt himself he wouldn't have the voice to cry out in pain - very good point. He does have a teeny weeny voice, when he barks it comes out as a high pitched woowoowoowoo! Actually it sounds quite cute, but yes I do keep an eye on him when he's out running around, I can't rely on hearing him bark to know where he is!

DA, thank dog Logan wasn't hurt, but I have had a good chuckle at the old lady and her poor little dog, sounds like a scene out of loony toons!

MAC is right, or at least I believe she is regarding the de-barked dog is none the wiser. Logan woudn't have a clue.

I guess because of her breed, as in deepness of voice and size etc, her husky voice is still quite audible. I am in tune with it, but even the kids are now in tune and they will hear her outside if she is barking. So it's not a nothing, depending how worked up she is.

It's funny, I have a heap of dogs come through here but really don't have barking issues, nor toilet training issues! Pei aren't barkers and they toilet train themselves by about 12 weeks (or earlier)!! So when the public ask what my opinion is on either potential issue, I have nothing worth saying, so thanks for explaining the debarking stuff ladies. At least I will be able to give a decent answer now.

    LoL at Di Dee

I wondered if anyone would notice that.

My point was, I can crap on my own front lawn - or more likely put my neighbour's chooks' poo on it (diluted of course) - and my dog can crap out there, but I don't want the neighbourhood "it's all about me" people letting their dogs or drunken party friends crap there.

Hmmm ... so I'm sitting here reading all of Hy's post & I'm thinking ... "Toilet Paper. No mention of toilet paper. Why is there no toilet paper ?" Or am I just being too anally retentive ?

details details details... if you do a perfect poop, you don't need much toilet paper. If you're anally retentive - you're in trouble. But I have a friend who likes to help out with the toilet paper.

back on barking and neighbour complaints.

My friend moved out to "Rural acreage" aka "hobby farm" just north of Canberra, and her next door neighbours complained about her dog(s) barking. And there was loads of stuff to bark at from wombats to roos to naughty horses and people who shouldn't be there...

My friend said "I'll shut my dogs up when you shut your geese up". The geese were just as loud, if not louder, and started earlier every morning with their honking. Anyway, that shut the neighbour up, but not the geese of course.
