Smile Minnie (formerly Minty) the Miracle Worker

    Hi all,

I thought i would post a positive story!

As many people would remember about a month ago we rescued a SWF from the RSPCA, She is a maltese poodle we think.

She is a lovely little dog, within a few days she had made herself right at home. Any way getting to the point, on the weekend we took Pepsi to visit my Nan is a nursing home, when my Nan first moved there we used to wheel my nan outside to visit with Pepsi but the nursing staff said it was fine to bring her in, so about once a fortnight we take her up. It is usually an event at the home and most of the residents come out to say Hi!

this weekend we took both dogs for the first time, my OH carried Minnie so she would feel safe and we decided if she started to stress he would take her out to the car and wait for us.

but it turns out Minnie (formerly Minty) is a natural, she loves the old people, one lady who is not that old but was in the home after some trauma who hasn't spoken in over 12 months decided that Minnie was the thing she was going to talk to.

Minnie walked straight up to her, jumped on her lap and refused to budge until she got her pat, then to the staffs amazement she started talking to her an patting her, Minnie was in heaven and the staff were amazed at the healing power of a little dog.

Who would have know that the shy scared little dog in the shelter would turn into this!

Oh now that's brought tears to my eyes! What a lovely story, it's so true that animals can have a profound effect on people.

Sounds like Minnie is a natural therapy dog!
