Mention self defence. And that the dog did not seem to be harmed.

SWF owner probably won't walk your way again.

DOGS Victoria - News - Members News - Council Animal Management Plans

You gotta love the dumbness of this for a link - it's to the act / law
    http://www.buloke.vic.gov.au/Buloke/...df?OpenElement

The interesting stuff is on page 28 of the pdf. I admit it is the worst written dog and cat act in the whole of Australia and I think now I've looked at all of them.

Section 29 on pdf page 28 parts
    1 A and 1AA apply I think.
(1A) If a dog rushes at or chases any person, the owner
is guilty of an offence and liable upon conviction
to a penalty of not more than 4 penalty units.
    (2) Sub-sections (1), (1AA) and (1A) do not apply if,
    the incident occurred—
    (a) because the dog was being teased, abused or
    assaulted; or
    (b) because another person was trespassing on
the premises on which the dog was kept; or
Ie you're not allowed to let your dog harass or charge another dog or person.
If your dog bites another dog, it is exempt from the section if the other dog was teasing it, attacking it, trespassing etc.

youd think but this is like the 4th time we've had to deal with her dogs.

1st time :nothing happened when they charged gyps,
2nd time: caught one tring to get into our yard to get at gyps
3rd time: i got gyps in the yard before they got to us but my OH had to catch the dogs for the lady

4th time: gyps picked one of them up!

they have been off the lead everytime! so i guess what im saying is im not holding my breath!

Well I'm not going through that pile of legal poop again.

Check what your council says about off lead on footpaths. It's banned state wide in SA and several other states. Tell her if you see her with her dogs off lead on your footpath again, you're ringing the ranger. You might want to have a chat with the ranger about the problem during work hours too.

Give S4B woman a card with the web addresses for front attach harnesses, a mob called "black dog" do them in Victoria / Melbourne. This will stop her dogs from pulling her arms off.

Try to keep track of what time on what day of the week she shows up. Most people have a routine time when it's convenient to walk the dogs. It might vary depending on what day of the week it is, but it will be roughly the same.

And in the meantime, dream of when we could hose people we didn't like off our property. Sigh.

As long as she never comes back, but from what you wrote, she seems like a slow learner.

I had to explain to a woman with a very adorable but extremely obnoxious GR puppy that when I have my dog on lead and I'm trying to leave, I'd really appreciate if she calls her dog away or comes and gets it. I couldn't move because he was trying to play tug with the lead and wouldn't leave it, he backed off for about two seconds when I yelled at him. And I told him good dog, which he thought was permission to jump on Frosty again. Sigh. Eventually another dog ran by and he chased that one so I got Frosty in the car and went and told the owner what I wanted to happen next time. She goes "I thought he was just playing", "yes but I needed to leave, what if it was an emergency?". I would have clobbered her dog to make him leave but I didn't tell her that.

i would have a chat to your local council ranger, i would also make a details statement and have it witnessed by a JP, just in case it comes to anything.

I doubt it would, Australia wide even in off leash dog areas you must have effective control of your dog. Allowing your dog to approach another dog is not effective control neither is allowing it to poo anywhere it likes. I recently got into this discussion with a neighbour and he is a lawyer, he looked it up and confirmed that if your dog was simply defending itself, home or owner then there would not be a case against your dog.

What i hate is people that think because my dogs are small and fluffy that they are harmless, the other day this small child run up to Pepsi at the dog park, not knowing my dog, lucky she has really good recall because she hates children but the mother started abusing me because i wouldn't let her kid pat my dog, when i explained that i didn't want the kid to get bitten she said "but dogs like that dont bite!" i kid you not! moron!
