Default When Should I Worry, Another Poo Dilemma :(

Mya had another bout of diarrhea a few days ago so it was starvation again for a day then she had chicken and rice yesterday and today. Problem now is she hasn't poo'd for 2 days. The last time she went was 1am on Monday morning. I've just spent the last hour walking round the garden with her but still nothing. I've given up now, I'm shattered and want to go to bed.

Should I worry? She is eating fine and is happy enough. I presume if she had some kind of blockage there would be other symptoms?

I shall do cartwheels in the morning if she manages to produce something. I shall even be happy if she wakes me up in the middle of the night to go out.

If she's still happy and doesn't seem uncomfortable or appear to be straining to go,I wouldn't be too concerned yet.

Try a little mashed pumpkin in her food. All the american sites rave about it.

They use it on very small puppies.

There was a member just a little while ago that recommended it too.

Mashed pumpkin works well TKay. If you can, try getting her to eat it alone, will work faster than if it's mixed in her food. Some dogs will eat it like that, hope Mya is one of them.

We gotta work out what's causing these recurring bouts though???

Still nothing. Will go get some pumpkin, thanks for the suggestions.

Everything was going absolutely fine with her DA, she'd been eating the kibble on it's own at night and mixed with a bit of Nature's Gift in the morning. All good, poos fine, finally putting on a bit of weight.

I think this bout may have been a result of drinking some stagnant water. We have had alot of rain lately and our garden takes ages to drain, (Clay grrrrr)
I have put a barrier up now so she can't get to it anymore. Why oh why would she rather drink the smelly dirty water instead of her nice fresh stuff in her bowl about 2 meters away

I wouldn't be worried at this stage, if she still hasn't done a number 2 in a couple of days' time THEN I'd start to worry. Remember she had nothing for a day, and her bowel would have been emptied out from the runs. The food she had 2 days ago would mostly be absorbed as would yesterday's food. I'd say that either today or tomorrow she'll give you a reason to do a happy dance!

TKay, you could stand there in front of her with a nice bowl of fresh water and Mya would still prefer the dirty stuff, or the filthy water in the fish pond.

Tastes much better, see. Like when they bury something and dig it up a week later when it's JUST RIGHT. Yummo!

    Frosty prefers menky water.

Chicken and rice after the runs and a fast isnt going to show up very soon, the entire insides had probably been emptied completely.

Then again the raw carrot I give Frosty tonight, usually shows up tomorrow ie her gut is 12 to 24 hours long.

Check / Feel Mya's tummy, does it look and feel ok? Does she seem uncomfortable with you prodding there?

Frosty gut problems, are usually "food" related. She's either got food that doesn't work for her or she's eaten something that stuffs up the works like bones with sharp pointy bits. It's obvious when she's clagged up this way, she either up chucks or has trouble crapping and looks in pain either way.

Our old keplie heeler x got clagged up on minced chicken carcass. Took a while but it just built up and eventually blocked up the system. She was not comfortable at all.

Still bloody nothing. I've just took her for a long walk on the beach. She always goes at the beach.

I've had a prod of her tummy and it seems fine, she's not bothered at all. I'll try and be more patient.
