Default What a Weekend, One I Did Not Need

but am definitely relieved that what's done is done!

We had the autumn festival here over the long weekend (sat, sun, mon) and GSD Breeder put in 2 dogs one in Puppy and one in Open Bitch. Have been having some major trouble with her.......hard to explain but I was feeding, cleaning, grooming the dogs etc. I had been training the dogs (12 OF THEM!!!) every single day (minimum of 3 hours training) and in the last 3 weeks have received $10!!! yes thats right..........I have been paying petrol out of my own pocket etc and have not been getting paid for EITHER training or handling in the ring. I have even been buying HER lunch!!! ..............yes I am too nice, Ive already come to this conclusion lol . Anyway I told her this weekend I wanted at least $30 for the 3 days (which I think is fair?!)

Anyway took mum with me to the show yesterday and grabbed some gloves out of breeders glovebox. Well sure enough at the end of the day when I ask for the money she tells me it had been in the glovebox of her car and then had the audacity to ACCUSE ME of stealing it!!!! She abused my mum in front of everyone and yelled and screamed that I was a thief etc. Well to put it nicely she coped a mouthful, loud enough for the entire group to hear. I chucked her gloves in her face and told her to have fun finding another handler and that I should have listened to the stories to start with............they weren't lies!

Anyway walking away (quite upset because I very much enjoy showing the GSD's) another breeder approached me. Offered me TRIPLE the money for handling and it would be just that........HANDLING!!! NO TRAINING ETC ETC.
Oh and she only has 3 dogs lol! She offered to take me to the nationals and pay for all expenses if I would still like to go. I would only be watching however (which would be great anyway) I met her dogs.........GORGEOUS

And to top it all off...............I found out today from someone that the breeder (one I used to handle for) had borrowed Bailey's water bowl to give her dogs a drink (on a few occasions) and one was ill and has SEVERE diarrhoea.

Sure enough who do you think is ill today with severe diarrhoea?????
    My poor baby girl

I have some pics to add soon............ oh and I didnt get paid of course lol

I hope it all works out.

A young handler I know went to Melb Royal with a breeder only handles the dogs, no training, she got bought a $200 outfit to show in. And was also given $150.00 cash, all meals paid for, the hotel paid for and got a couple of days of school as well.

She gets paid each time she handles.

Look at it this way, people may think if you could handle her (this previous breeder) you could probably handle anything that comes you way. Good could come out of it yet.

What a cow, I hope what happened spreads like wild fire, so it will all come back to bite her on the a*se.

I used to work for a guy who was always avoiding paying the bill. Eventually I had a strict rule, no work unless the previous invoice was paid. And I was/am the only person who could do the work he needed done, though I was happy to document and teach others how to do most of it, cos I didn't enjoy that work much.

So you work out expenses/costs/what you expect to be paid, and you ask to be paid for last weeks effort before you do any handling today - if that makes sense. So if week one - you're owed $50, and you send an invoice due at the end of week 2, and week 2 you're owed $50 and you send an invoice due at the end of week 3, and week 3 comes around show day, and you haven't been paid for week 1 - and it's due - don't do any more work until you're paid up front for previous weeks - both week 1 and 2...

It was the only way I got paid sometimes. And you minimise your losses if the scrouge never intended to pay.

The current rate for 1.5 hours of hockey umpring is between $40 and $50 unless it's late Saturday night game, and then it's more. Like $75. All tax free because otherwise you could claim your travel and your training, and your boots and your club rego and etc, and ATO just says it's a hobby - tough. So you don't pay tax on it either.

PS I knew there was some reason Frosty prefers to drink out of a running tap. Or the menkiest water she can find eg pot plant saucers.
