    Default Their First Ute Ride

Took the puppets in the little Brumby ute to pick up SS from school today, chucked in Aunty Tilly to keep them company & give them confidence.

They loved it. I could see Moo standing on the wheel arch trying to suck in the smells. Star took a bit longer to come around but got there in the end and they really loved it when all the kids passed by and made ooooing and arrrring noises over them.

Laughed when one kid told his mate they are small greyhounds, but SS proudly announced that they were Whippets, similar, but not the same. It's SS's first week at his new school and I think he made a few friends this arvo, mainly the girls who all waved as we drove off.

And don't worry about the puppies safety, hubby made a canopy, high enough for Gemma to stand up in out of weld mesh and a canvas cover has been put over the roof to keep the sun off them. They have carpet, a padded bed and a small crate to go in should they want to but they stood up noses to the wind, little Moo's tail was wagging all the way.

I think they preferred that to the new flash Pathfinder, for some reason that car makes them feel a bit sick. I know I can't even put my head down to read a road map for more than a couple of seconds, whereas the old ute I can read a novel in.

There is just something about a ute for dogs, lol.
We will be traveling to Sydney in ours so we can take a piece of furniture to my son's place. Ugggh, not as comfy as the car.

MAC, it sounds like the puppets had a wonderful time! The dog area of the ute sounds pretty flash too!

Yes hubby is very talented, especially so for someone who works with computer software all day, mind you he hates it. I think he'd rather go back to his trade any day.

Suppose I can't complain about not getting the toy box built when he's designed, molded, welded, heated and bent the weld mesh from flat sheets to fit the ute for the sole purpose of carrying the dogs. He may not realise it yet but he won't get the ute back until next summer now - it's got no a/c. LOL.

I think a photo is warranted - let's see those faces pointing into the wind!

Lordy, I hate to think what my lot would do if I put them on the back of a ute - pandemonium!!!

I find that most dogs take naturally to a ute, maybe not the flat top ones, but the other types.

We used to tie Gem in but she would put her feet on the roof because she couldn't get to the sides & you go to look out the rear view mirror and you'd get a shock because all you'd see is black.

But when you get a couple of dogs in it's too dangerous with leads getting caught up with legs etc so that's how the "cage" as we call it came to be built. Hubby finished it last weekend.

We're taking it to the show tomorrow. Tilly is going to be wearing her pink sheepskin coat, Mickey his blue polarfleece and the puppets will be put in some polarfleece doggyjammas because it might be a bit chilly on the express way in the morning, the afternoon should be perfect ute weather.

I think we might look a bit al la Beverly Hillbillies though, LOL.

Oh and Greys I'm going to get hubby to post some photos up on Monday while he's relaxing, I think I just whack a whole stack on because you won't get them again.

Pictures with all in their various coats and doggyjammas would look fantastic I think!
