I've been trying to teach her to roll over, but it just isn't happening. Any tips guys?

I know she is only 12 weeks old, but I figured I might aswell try to teach her as much as I can while her pea brain is still a sponge lol

Do you have a clicker? Clicker training is great for this kind of thing, including the roll over trick.

Frosty frequently rolls over for a belly rub and doggy sniffing convenience when greeting other dogs and people but doesn't do it on command but I'm working on it. So I get her into a drop position using a food treat lure and then I pull the treat back over her shoulder and across so she has to roll over to keep her nose on the treat. And as she goes onto her side I click and treat and when she's "got it" that part, I ask for a bit more around before she gets the treat. And now she's pretty much got it, and adds it to her bag of voluntary "offerings" when she wants attention or food.

If you teach targetting - ie getting a dog to touch your hand or your foot with various bits of her body, it makes teaching doggy dancing easier.

I had the click but did not work with Teddy..

Anyway, I did not comment as I too had no idea of what it is lol!

Sounds terrific anyway, Pipi has the brains to do this but at the moment I am looking to train her in agility and then after a while am looking to introduce her to Fly Ball! There is going to be a demo of this at Paws In The Park so I cannot wait, as well as an Agility demo!

    YAY!!!

After many hours on the computer searching for some answers on canine freestyle, I have found one!

Dancing with Dogs are going to be holding a small group in Cairns!

I have just received an email from the boss lady who gave me the email of the lady in charge of the Cairns group. I'm just waiting on a reply from her now!

Fingers crossed it all works out well!

I think it's really going to happen guys! I think Casey is really going to be my little superstar!!!

The lady that holds the classes in Cairns gave me a call tonight!

As the classes are held on the weekend, and I work on the weekends, she said that she will try and work something out so that we can meet up and organize it all. She said she will call back in a few days!

She suggested that I go to the Agility and Dog Shows, but they are also held on the weekend

I asked her if Casey was too young for this at the moment, and she said that it is a good time to start teaching her. She said that there are many movements that she can learn at this age. The rest she will have to wait till she is older and her bones aren't so fragile.

I didn't ask the lady how much it costs though...I forgot I was too excited

How much do you guys think something like this would cost?

In my opinion, she isn't too young. It is best for her to pick it up at this age.

I would imagine somewhere between $70-$125. Not too sure to be exact but considering how much things like Puppy Pre-School cost it should be around the same. It cost me $60 for 4 weeks of Puppy Pre-School for Pipi.

I found a great site, although this Canine Freestyle school is based in Melbourne, there are some great piccies on there! Plus videos.

I just watched some of the videos and it looks like great fun!!

I so wish I could do this with Pipi!

    Have fun.

Just an update on Casey and the Canine Freestyle...

    She starts June 1st!!!

It costs $60-$80 for an 8 week 'course'.

The first 4 weeks are inside obedience training, and the other 4 weeks are outside training (with distractions etc). Basically this is just an obedience course, but we will also be learning the basic moves that make up a routine. The lady told me that there are a few levels that we can do if we want after this.

Depending on how well Casey takes to this, we will go all the way
