    Default I Wish I Could Own a ______ Breed... but I Can't

Do any of you have breeds you have always wished you could own, but for whatever reason you can't?

Mine would be Bernese Mountain Dog - love them! I don't think I've EVER seen one in Perth. Still, that would be a breed I'd love to own. Maybe one day if I move to a cooler climate. Though they could be clipped I guess....

A few of the mastiff breeds, they wouldnt really fit my lifestyle. But I really like the ones I have met, the Neo's, Douge etc.
Perhaps the smallest mastiff type the Cane Corso would fit. But not really from the lines most often found in Australia at the moment, I like the American type over the Euro. They are noticably smaller and tighter in body.
If you find yourself going through hell; Don't stay. Just keep on going.

I had always dreamed of owning a Pug. What stopped me is after weeks of research, they have a lot of health problems.

    Such as,
    1. some have to have their eyes stitched as they some how pop out.
    2. they have quite a respiratory problems.
    3. back problems are common.

And more. Also I found that there were none available in pet stores and I could only buy privately but there was a bit of a money issue, as they are around the $1000 mark.

I also wished that I could have a large dog, more towards to Labs. But we thought that if we had a Lab that it would jump the fence etc.

But anyway, I am happy with my little anglel Pipi. She was a blessing in disguise.

That is a hard question. There are so many I could say yes too.

When searching the rescue lists I found 3 dogs I really loved and if I were single I would have taken all three of them. Asher was one - always wanted to own a brindled dog. There was a black german shepherd girl and a small border collie. I am not a fan of border collies but this particular one would have stolen anybody's heart. I didn't want another shepherd after losing Tigga but the black girl was gorgeous. I wish I could have them all.

As for the purebreeds, I'd own a greyhound anyday. Whether it an italian, whippet or the ones that race, I love the greys.

    A GSD.
I've loved GSDs as long as I can remember, and dream about owning one one day.
I know I will - but I'll have to wait till I live by myself and have the time and dedication for one. But mark my words... I will have one one day.

OK... got a bit too serious there

    True that... lol.

And when I am older and living by myself, I will own either a Lab or Pug as well as my Pipi.

I wish I could own an Irish Wolfhound or a Borzoi.

The budget doesn't allow feeding and vetting one and the backyard is way too small!

There are a few breeds that I find fascinating.....

Saluki, Borzoi, Chinese Crested, Kelpie again but when I weigh up all the pros and cons the breed that suits us is the Whippet.

So while I admire these other breeds I doubt one will ever be coming to live with us.

Irish Wolfhound! To the point that I actually asked a breeder last weekend what one would set me back - $2000 - a little out of my price range at the moment!! LOL!

A saluki - and one day I will

A doberman - probably never will as I have heard they are quite hard to live with.

    And many many more!!
