I've noticed alot of poop on my walks to daughters pre school, I've seen one taking place aswell but no owner around, a gsd running about having a grand old time peeing here pooping there. There is alot of dog owners around my area,I guess its beyond them to consider picking up their dogs poop.

Sorry your son nearly had a dog poo tumble down a hill, but glad he wasn't injured.

On the weekend when I was at the dog off-leash beach I saw the biggest dog turd I have ever seen. I can not believe people would jeopardize the use of a lovely beach where we can have our dogs off-leash just because they are lazy. It is the few bad owners that ruin it for all of us!

That's true, isn't it. Makes non-dog-owners think we're all like that. Sigh.

At DT there is a big dane X that has an owner that doesnt clean up after him... He does the biggest turds, its feral. Ive had to dodge monsters poops many a time... I wish some people would learn that if you dont clean up after your dogs, we might not have as many priveleges as we do now.

If I know who owns the dog that pooped, I give them the poop - first offence - in a bag. Second offence, without the bag. I've never had to do it twice. If I knew any local serial offenders, they'd definitely be getting poop in their mail box, first time in a bag, with a warning to say it would be delivered without the bag if it happened again.

However I'm not perfect and sometimes Frosty sneaks one out when I'm not paying attention and I'm grateful for the people who let me know. But it's possible it could happen and there'd be nobody to tell.

So on the ovals I pick up most craps I see, but I can't cope with the quantity on our footpaths - I'd need a wheel barrow and shovel just to clean up what's between my place and the oval.

And at the ovals - if there is a (married) couple - male and female walking the dogs - it's almost always the female that picks up no matter how busy she is with other things like dealing with children. It's like the bloke is helpless. I watched one couple with two dogs and two children, the woman was completely swamped, one dog crapped and while she was dealing with that, the other one crapped behind her out of her line of sight and it was me that helped not any of her family. I told her hubby off - he could have at least watched the other dog and marked the spot for her. And the children were plenty old enough to be helping too but no.

I've got this theory that some men think it is beneath them. I know one of these men - he lives across the road from me, but fortunately for us, he doesn't walk his dogs very often. Not so good for his dogs though.

I sometimes dream of training Frosty to dob in the culprits. She's pretty good at scent tracking, I figure it wouldn't take much more training to get her to "find" the dog crap originator.

Magistrate fined over dog faeces fight

A Victorian magistrate has blamed stress for a dispute in which he threatened to throw dog faeces at a neighbour.

Raffaele Barberio, 60, appeared in the Moorabbin Magistrates' Court today where he pleaded guilty to one charge each of assault and criminal damage.

The court heard Barberio was out walking his German Shepherd in the Melbourne bayside suburb of Brighton in March last year when the dog defecated on the nature strip.

He continued walking but was pulled up by the driver of a gold Range Rover who challenged him to pick up the faeces.

A brief scuffle ensued during which the magistrate tried to strike the driver with his fist.

Barberio also allegedly threatened to throw the animal waste at the man, showing it to him in a plastic bag and asking "Do you want it?".

The complainant was not injured and his wife called police.

Seven months later, after receiving a prosecution brief over the incident, Barberio went to the complainant’s house and used a key to scratch both sides of the Range Rover, causing more than $9000 worth of damage.

His lawyer, Robert Richter, QC, successfully requested the magistrate not impose a conviction.

Mr Richter said Barberio was grieving the loss of his mother when the first incident occurred and was facing enormous stress.

The magistrate had also given a life of service to the community, his lawyer said.

Barberio was fined $7500 and placed on a good behaviour bond.

He has stepped down as a magistrate.

Grrrr. We used to have a family down the road with racing Greyhounds that lived in their garage. As if that isn't irritating enough (poor bloody dogs) they walked them twice a day up the laneway next to a local recreation area which was used by lots of people. Their dogs crapped all up and down this laneway, and none was ever picked up. It was a stinking mess that eventually no-one else could use - their own public dog's toilet.

Oh, and they had the most immaculate front yard and lawn I have seen in a long time, not a blade of grass out of place. Funny that - they just left their mess elsewhere for everyone else to deal with.

Our local dog park can be terrible sometimes.

    Poop every where!

I always pick up after mine and if they happen to poop next to another dogs I usually pick that up to. I'm already bent over, might as well get the extra one.

Last time I went someone had left a huge, and I mean HUGE pile of vomit on the grass. When I walked over (everyone meets in the middle and chats) some other people were already cleaning it up.
It's really unfair that other people have to clean up poop and vomit that doesn't belong to their dogs.

What if that dog had a contagious virus like Parvo?
