    Default Getting a 2nd Dog?

Banjo has settled amazingly well in all respects in his new home except when leaving him in the morning (away 8-5 monday to friday)
He will simply refuse to go out easily. We have started feeding him in the morning so we can put it down and run back inside and shut the door before he realises whats going on. But then we see him come to the door and put his little nose under and whine. Then when we get in the car he runs to the fence and whines and does a few barks.
It breaks my heart every morning. I feel so wracked with guilt.
Honestly growing up we always had 1 dog by itsself and it never acted like this when we left. I actually cant even remember friends dogs acting like this...
I am starting to seriously think about bringing in a second dog so he at least has some company through the day (not to mention I would love another).
BUT what if I get another and then they BOTH give me the guilt trip every morning!
and what if it makes banjo even sadder that he has to share his yard and us with another dog?

What do people think? Is it a good idea in this situation or not? advice please!
If so how is the best way for us to go about finding one that will fit in with banjo properly?

Ah, putting his food bowl down and running back inside is worsening the problem, poor boy.

Look, can you first tell me what happens when you get home from work each afternoon? What do you do? How do you greet him? How does he react? Do you then have him inside the house all the time you're home?

I thought it might be worsening the problem but I wasnt sure what to do, I literally have to hold him out and shut the door nearly injuring both of us if I dont do it with the food.
When we get home we go inside and wait awhile maybe 5 minutes till be stops going crazy trying to get under the door, then we open it but wait till he calms before giving him any attention and he stops jumping on me, except to tell him in a firm like voice to calm.
Then yeah he stays inside most of the time, unless I go outside- he follows me everywhere. But the door is open so he is free to go in and out.
This weekend we made a point to leave him out for awhile each day while we went out....

    I would take this seriously.
He may have a seperation/anxiety disorder.
Does he have toys and stuff for during the day?

uhh what????? I AM taking it seriously.
hence coming on here, hence trying to do other things I have been told about excitemnt when coming home. Hence his many toys and kongs and hidden treats around the yard.
I am trying everything I know.
I will be taking him to training hopefully next wednesday- I havent been able to as he has had kennell cough and I cant have him spreading it to other dogs.
So yes he has many toys and I am alternating them every few days to stop him getting bored.
This forum is really starting to make me feel like a hopeless idiot. Shame I was excited about finding it at first and thought it would be a lot of help.

You must have read that wrong. I wasn't having a dig at you, I was just generally saying, this could be serious.

    Jeez, good luck.
