Wash the toys before you give them to the dog, even if it's an overnight soak, rinse out the next day and hung on the line to dry. I do this for every toy, doesn't matter where it has come from, I don't know who or what has come into contact with it before!

I think the best course of action is to supervise your dog with any toys at first, find out which are likely to be destroyed and give these only under supervision. Batty has one fleece tug toy that I made myself and one teddy that he has all of the time and the rest are put away unless I'm home and playing with him. He does have chews around the place though.

Probably not good if from China, I did hear those stailess steel bowls from China contain lead in them and if warm dog food is put in them it leaches the lead out and poisons the dog.
Have not done it myself so it may not be right but I would not risk it

Thank you MB for the info about the "made in china" food bowls...

Out in the rubbish bin it is for Floyd's stainless steel food bowl then, as i'm not sure where it was made & i'm not going to take the risk of lead poison in my dog.

I think they say that everything these days can in some way cause problems. I will continue to use all the different things I use, one ss bowl, some old oven baking trays, plastic bowls, old big saucepans for water, seems I spread the risk, lol.

I've found rubber toys from pet stores tend to be made of harder rubber than the ones from discount stores - this is important for me as both my dogs have a destructive streak! Anything made by Kong is great, we have a Kong ball that is pretty much indestructible. They also love anything with a squeaker in it but will eventually pull it apart to find where the noise is coming from.
