Boutique brings to mind grooming, and styling.
It sounds very posh I think a wide range of product and knowledge is a must in any store, not just individual lines.
I dont know if I can help beyond that lol I usually go to places that are more down to earth :O Im not a very poshy person lol

Breeding, Showing, Training and general crazy making!!!

I would expect to find breeds specific merchandise. ie. Whippet coats designed for the curve of a whippets back and good coverage. Some nice hound collars, with padding and matching leads that feel good in the hand.
Some nice bedding, with easy to remove & wash covers and extra covers to interchange while one is in the wash. I'd love to have that as I wash my bedding weekly.

And so on and so forth depending on the individual breed.

I too am a fairly practical person but to have nice quality, long lasting things that can still be washed etc would be a great idea.

Snoods for long eared dogs like the setter, and the special bowl that her ears don't go into. (She burried the last one and I never found it). Practical stuff that you don't find in the everyday average pet supply store.

Hmm, I think it's the word 'Boutique' that throws me off.

That word conjures prissy, frilly, over the top products for me, but that's just me.

I think any dog store should have a range of different products that would suit everybody's walk of life, from the down-to-earth cheaper range of products, to the most expensive designer top quality products.

Something I wont see anywhere else, exclusive lines.
Extremly polite and well groomed staff, nice soroundings, perhaps dark walls and spotlights.
Water and some natural healthy treats for the dogs.

well imo visually I like clean simple lines, nice lighting, nothing frilly or fufuy (iykwim), modern and sleek. areas dedicated to specific breeds prehaps.

staff wise - nicely dressed, no attitude, helpful and not judgemental.

product wise - to put it simply anything that you don't have in supermarkets or pet store but not all amazingly expensive, also have products that you can afford to get regulary that are well priced (washes/sprays/treats)

And following on from other member's staff comments - staff who actually have some dog education behind them. Not nongs who look at you with this dumb blank look when you ask for the most common thing.

Awsome guys! Thanks for all this info

When I say 'Boutique' it is a way to say that the store is not like your average everyday pet store , more exclusive type store,as Mon said , more a store that you can get exclusive products in ( but still carry some of the triedand tested better well likes items such as shampoo's etc, but certainly not prissy, frilly and posh

    Yep ok
Like I said before a wider range of product and understanding than you usually find. MAC said breed specific items/foods and I think that is a great idea. We started makeing our own rugs because there was nowhere to get whippet rugs back then, and whippet collars are great!
I like the breed and size specific foods. Its great for sensitive breeds
And like everyone has said well groomed and informed staff is a must
... I really should get back to work lol
