I have someone telling me on another forum that they are one o the same and that the AmStaff is just another name so that they can come into Australia?

So how is it an AmStaff just because its registered?

Are they technically the same breed?

Oh ok, but it doesnt make the dog any more dangerous if it isnt registered than if it is?

Why Im asking is that someones horse on another forum was attacked by a "Purebred" Staffy and she is claiming that all Staffies are dangerous and should not be kept as pets. they also put them in the same basket as Pit Bulls...

Just got me thinking thats all

    Amstaff is American Staffordshire
Staffy/Stafford/Staffie/SBT all mean Staffordshire Bull Terrier. They are a completely different breed to a Pit Bull/Amstaff.

I'm not sure I completely understand, so let me get this straight.... The American Staffy x Border Collie (!) pups I saw in a pet store about 2 weeks ago, would be classed as Pit Bulls?

    Here are a few quotes

The law in NSW is that staffies are to be keep in an enclosed structure where it cannot get out of, when it is out in public it must be muzzled and the lead must be strong enough so it won't break, Why ? because they are dangerous dogs.
We have in laws who have a pitbull. American staffie most call them now to avoid the council dangerous dog laws
Any thing that can think for itself is potentially dangerous, but having a dog that has been breed for centuries to hunt down and kill ( staffies, pig dogs Akitas etc etc,etc ) should not be allowed to be used as a family pet as they are a working " hunting" killing animal
I know there are different types of staffies but their still breed for one reason only, to hunt and kill.
