    Update:

    Levi is here.

Straight under the fence this afternoon after ndn's went out. He is friendly, just very very frustrated about not being able to play. Very understimulated dog. To the point where I'm thinking that I might offer to do some training with the poor boy.

He is kinda cute I must say.

He's owned by the same people who used to own Bobby (now my cat).

I just feel sorry for the poor boy.

Bobby's been clearly having a word with Levi over the fence about how good it is at your place.

I have. They cannot do anything about it unless he is vicious or dangerous (menacing etc) which he's not, or if he's out on the road/in public. The ranger is going to pop around and have a chat to them about responsible pet ownership too.

I'm not too happy with it tbh. If I had proof of what happened last night, other than the letter from the vets (ranger is going to collect a copy of that from me when he comes to chat to them) then I'd be able to do something, but the council needs more than just the letter from the vets.

Like I said Angela, councils can't do a lot unless laws have been broken.

Reason being, that anybody can ring up and make a complaint about this, that and any dog for whatever reason they see fit. It's really difficult for the council to try and ascertain who's telling the truth, as everyone sees things from different viewpoints.
Same as the fence. Levi is getting into your yard, but as far as the council will be concerned that's your responsibility too, not just the neighbours.

I realise a lot of ppl are very unhappy with their local animal control regs, but I'm just trying to explain it's not easy for them, either.

I know! I'm not happy because I wish there was more they could do. I also wish people would just be bloody honest and stop taking others for a ride... Everything would be so much simpler....

ETA: Part of me not being happy is I'm not happy with myself not getting proof. I wasn't really thinking about it though...

I think getting the ranger in to "chat" with them is a good idea, although it's hardly likely to turn them into responsible dog owners in one day .... if at all. It will be interesting to see where this ends up. How is Batty around Levi ?

Huh? How are they taking you for a ride? They're just idiot neighbours who won't fix their fence, and from what I can gather aren't the best owners for pets, either. Their lack of responsibility causes grief for everyone else.

He's playing. Batty won't go back up on that wall though... Levi's been doing zoomies with him and racing along there, Batty puts his front paws on the retaining wall then runs on the ground at the bottom of it instead. I think the bad association is actually with the hole not with Levi?
