I pressed that in today's day and age of doing it all over the phone and via internet it seems hilarious that to cancel it MUST be done the old-fashioned way via letter. They said it was for signature reasons. I told them they don't have my signature anyway! Duh!

So in the end they agreed to my faxing them my request to cancel policy,so that I have instant confirmation that my letter WAS received. Duh, duh, duh...

Have just looked through various other companies and read through the fine print. Rnag on e and asked a few further "fine-print' questions, and have come to the conclusion that it is not worth it in the long run. There are too many discrepancies IMHO and I can see myself getting done all over again.

So, someone on here once mentioned opening a vet account for their pets and transferrring funds into that each week. That is what I'm going to do. I'm sure it will add up pretty quickly.
We do this through our budget...we set money aside each week for medical costs...food...flea and worm treatments etc

They get you one way or the other, the t&c are written in such a way that unless you DO read the fine print (and understand it) you find out you're not covered for all that much, maybe just accidents, whereas we want cover for all vet costs, or at least part of it. No wonder so few people take it out.

Vet account is the way to go DA!

Yep, private little account will do us I think.

One company would cover any dogs that contracted ICH, PI, parvo, distemper, CA and KC IF they had proof of vaccination, which was good, but there were other areas that were still too hazy and they couldn't answer my questions. If they don't know their own policy, then...

And then there's the teeny weeny little clause that states unless you can provide the dog's entire veterinary history in file from all previous vets they won't cover your claim, or could take a "lengthy period" to consider your claim.

Not suitable for Logan then, is it?

Yeh They are not entirly helpful. We looked into it for out working dogs but most of them only covered things like getting hit by a car I couldnt find anything worth using.

Breeding, Showing, Training and general crazy making!!!

If I thought there was anything worthwhile out there in regards health cover for dogs I have it. But as yet I haven't found anything.

So we just put money in monthly to the dog account.

Re Logan, get her past vets to send you her history. You may need to chase them up a couple of times before they think you are serious but if you explain it's for insurance then it might make a difference.

I do this in addition to having the insurance. Mostly though it goes to fun stuff, for example I just bought an agility tunnel

I put in $50 a week so it adds up very quickly. I think at the last time I checked it was around the $4k mark - I prefer it to be at $5k but I've been using the account for fun things for Batty and I so I have to wait for it to build back up again now
