    Default My First Post.

Hi to all you like minded Dog lovers!

My first post. First I would like to thank the founders of this site!
I know this forum will give me access to all the Info I need to make an informed choice on who, what, where, when, why and how to go about getting my hands on a Healthy in all aspects German Shepherd!

I live in Brisbane, I have a ten month old baby girl. I want a family dog, I am starting to ramp up my search for a German Shepherd. I have had big dogs before.
I would like to hear your thoughts on Breeders, Health, Nutrition, Training and preferred sex etc!

Pretty much anything you think I may need to know to make a sound decision.

    Thank you for you advice.

    (all advice welcome)

Can't give much advice, but we do have some people very knowledgable about GSDs. All I can say is that they're a beautiful breed
    And ofc!

    Welcome to the forum.

What sex do you yourself prefer?
What experience do you have with training? What sort of training do you have in mind?

Lots and lots and lots of health issues with GSDs. Some breeders check for all, some lonly for selected genetic problems. Some are good, some are crap and wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole.

Can give you a list of breeders closest to you, but can also recommend others in Qld who would be a few hours drive from you.
Depends what you're looking for too. Roach back? Old Style? Short coat? Long coat? Colour prefernce if any?
Age? You want an older pup? A puppy? An young adult needing rehoming?

I could ask questions forever, but I've just gone and bored myself!!!

    Tell us what YOU want.

    Thanks for your post!
I am undecided as to what I want in many of your questions.
I think I want a pup or young well natured healthy dog, black and ?, I think old style still not decided, short coat, I am willing to drive for up to say 4 hours for the right dog.
I want to know who to stay away from, even if its a private recommendation.
    All Info Appreciated!

good choice of breed....i have owned both sexes, male was more protective, but both were very tolerant and just lovely temperamented dogs,
