    Hi Florence

It was my understanding that the Lost Dog's Home in Sydney has most of the council pound contracts and puts animals to sleep at an astonishing rate.

I had heard the same thing about the Melbourne one.

And having checked - it seems that I have confused Sydney Dogs and Cats Home with Lost Dog's Home ... sydney dogs and cats home

I've also heard that some dogs that various breed rescue groups want to rescue and will pay to get them out of "jail" get PTS for medical problems that can be treated and cured with a simple run of Antibiotics.

Most of the complaints are up at DOL but there have been some here too.

I think most of the problem is that these places have "home" in their title and most people would associate that with "no kill". Which probably isn't practical. It figures the thread about the antibiotics - I can't find.

Congrats DA. I suppose that'll mean you'll have less time to post here. *sniffle* Still, our loss is the doggies' gain.

    Good on you DA!

I must admit... I'd been thinking about doing the same when I'm back! (for good, that is)

Well, there's one in Dev, Burnie and Hobart. By the time you finally move back, I'll be able to have told you what i think of the one here in Dev. It's out in Spreyton. Most of the dogs from the RSPCA at Tarlton end up at the one at Spreyton, C&B.

    Nice one DA!

Atleast the only reason you didn't get the job was because you were a smoker, not because you weren't fit for the job
