Default Door Closes, Another Door Opens

You may recall a while ago I was looking at George, a rescue dog. Didn't pan out, and I also inquired at the time about a couple of Shepherds, but they were gone. However, I was referred on, and today I was contacted by a breeder who is looking for a suitable home for one of her returned bitches, an older puppy/young adult.

I have discussed this dog with her at length to ascertain suitability for our needs and the dog's, and yeah, she sounds like a great fit.

She has lived with cats successfully without any dramas, has been with two children younger than ours, and allegedly has never shown an iota of aggression to either dogs or people. Seems she has been well socialised. Yay!

It occured to me that had Inca still been here, I would have seriously considered this dog anyway, so my family and I have made the decision to go ahead with this opportunity.

For any members (although I don't actually think that's gonna happen here) who think I should spend an 'allocated' specific amount of time mourning, please refrain from posting in this thread. Inca has gone and although I loved her, nothing can bring her back. This is a 'good news' thread - one my family and I could do with.

Aw This is wonderful news for you and your family

I'm really happy for you, and I really believe it's true that when one door closes another opens. Everything happens for a reason, even if the reason isn't always clear.

I look forward to hearing more about your new family member

    P.S. PHOTOS!

Congrats on your decision on getting a new dog, and for rescuing
This might sound silly to those who know you but... what breed/mix?

Mourning time has nothing to do with actual 'time' IMHO everyone is different.

aww thats great news DA..i'm so happy for you & your family & i so hope it all works out nicely for you & your new dog

I too had gotten Floyd soon after Zeppelin had passed away. I honestly think that another dog will help ease your pain.

"But being an honest person", i will admit that i did feel some guilt about getting another dog though, i felt like i was being disloyal to Zeppelin. The guilt soon passed though & i realized that i was doing something good anyway by adopting a rescue dog whom was in need of a loving owner..

I think it's wonderful! Everyone deals with loss in their own way, it is very much a personal choice, and if this special girl is meant to come to you then it will be.

We can never replace those that we have lost, but we do have an unending source of love that we can give, it is up the individual to decide when they are ready to open their hearts again.

It sounds like fate has stepped in to introduce you to this girl, and maybe Inca has also had a hand in it too.....

    Congratulations DA!!!

I am genuinely happy for you I cannot wait to see photos of her, may I ask what colour is she? (Sorry if it's silly, my fave colours are sable and black)

I agree with GAG, I think Inca may have had a helping paw in this one!

Thank you for sharing this news with us. I truly hope that there is no-one who would attempt to pass judgement on you for doing what you need to do.

    When does she arrive?
