Thread: What Breed Makes You Think ... Eh!

The thing about Dane drool is that it dries hard.

Quite a few times they had come home and found their regular light fittings had been turned in chandeliers by the crystallized hanging drool.
Mum always used to joke about not putting tinsel on the Christmas tree and just getting the Danes to shake their heads

He's a gorgeous boy... thick as 2 short planks, but gorgeous.

Even though I appreciate all breeds of dogs, I would have to say I don't think I could take to a chihuahua.

I didn't reply honestly in my previous post, as i didn't want to offend others...but seeing as everyone else has said what breed is not for them, i may as well too...

But i wont ever own any small fluffy fur ball doggie's, small breeds, Chinese crested, designer doggies.. i'm not the type of person that a handbag or lappy yappy doggie would suit. Like Floyd the yappy doggies annoy the hell out of me with their constant yappy barking .. ohh well they soon shut up whenever Floyd tells them what for & gives them a bark back, it's as if he is saying "dont bother trying to be a big brave dog" & "will you shut the f-up for goodness sakes"..

I do like all dogs though, but imo owning & liking & disliking specific breeds are 2 different things

Oh I maintain that I will never own a cresty, Chiko doesnt count he is a breed of his own!!! I just have only ever met one really nice tempermented hairless. And I couldnt own a Pei, sorry girls, I just cant afford the vet bills and there are far too many people out there who breed with unhealthy dogs in that breed as with many others and I could not have a chihuahua, yappy little people they are.

Breeding, Showing, Training and general crazy making!!!

You should get a rescue pei then......I pay for their vet bills to get them back to good health!!!! Take Netty's Elwood for example. Approx $1500 in vet bills, $350 in training bills & another $400 in air fares.....and he is available for sale for the grand total of $500!!! Seriously most issues other than the eyes are a result of uneducated parents. Feeding the wrong stuff is a HUGE no no and consequenses are huge

wow how do you swallow that cost??
I have seen puppies brought into the vet to get eye surgary as soon as they were old enough to go under because they were not bred from dogs that had good eyes Its sad

I am not a fan of Maltese crosses and could not own one - mainly because i am serverely allergic to them...

I could not own a Chinese Crested, just something about a hairless dog... Having said that i have met a gorgeous one at training... pity it was so cold, the poor thing was shivering.

I am a convert with the Pei... Cute and a Bundle of Character...

If I have any suspicions at all about eyes on babies I have them tacked. Won't do entropion surgery until they are 12 months, although there have been a couple of exceptions to this rule with REALLY bad eyes - my Noah being one of these, he had his first entropion surgery at 16 weeks, a "less is more" surgery. He then went back for another at 10 months of age.

Swallow the cost? I am pretty lucky, I have everything I want and I would rather spend on the dogs than leave it for anyone else including the kids who as far as I am concerned, need to make their own money to appreciate it's value. Besides, they get the house and contents!! So really, I am being selfish spending it on the dogs!!! Anyway, thats how I justify it to OH who has given up on being horrified by my vet bills lol

I'm surprised the Cresteds didn't come up sooner, they are definitely an acquired taste

edit - oh and thanks for the Dane compliments I will pass them on to mum!

He is going through a bit of a faze at the moment... he swears and declares one of mums mini poodles is in season.
She has been spayed for several years.
He is whining, drooling, sniffing and trying to hump her!!!

He goes in for an implant next week - will let you know how that turns out
